In the end, my writing about this particular topic can be traced back decades to Carlos Cortés' Chicano History course, which is why I will always support the teaching of ethnic studies in the U.S. It helps us understand who we are, where we came from, and where we are going.

I'll just mention that an key and timely theme of my father's novel is the importance of the preservation of the physicality of books. Right now, as we speak Anthropic and other companies, are slicing the spines off millions of books to train their AIs, then throwing them away after destruction.
