Much to criticize about OpenAI’s math release, but at least they acknowledge 4,000 prompts only led to 372 results — a 9.3% success rate.

I would agree. I could even argue the definition allows it, if you interpret “open interval” as open relative to the domain. If you don’t allow endpoints, you could have the embarrassing situation of a global max that is not a local max.

Abolish the Death Penalty. Capital Punishment is abhorrent.

In 1979, the 66th General Convention reaffirmed this position, calling on dioceses and members of the Church to work actively toward abolishing the death penalty in their states.”

From Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial. A fascinating place.
The Legacy of Peace
takes time and commitment. Perhaps no simpler lesson emerges from the long history of increasing friendship and cooperation among the U.S., Canada, and Great Britain. Soon after the Treaty of Ghent, disarmament and arbitration became tools for averting war. Yet it required years of adherence to these tenets, especially in the face of a rapidly changing world, to create a lasting peace. It endures not under the shadow of fear or threat, but because each nation has resolved to avoid violence, even in cases of conflict. A dramatic testament to this principle is the 4,000-mile boundary between the U.S. and Canada, the longest undefended border in the world.
Can disarmament and arbitration achieve lasting peace in other areas? Are these the most effective methods for attaining peace?
These tough questions continue to challenge world leaders today.

Back cover of book with a two quotes and a description: On 2 January 1988, Canada and the United States signed what was then the most comprehensive free-trade agreement that the world had seen. Decision at Midnight is the story of the FTA negotiations themselves, the preparations for and conduct of the negotiations, and the ideas and issues behind them. I think it’s more likely to be some US interests driven issue combined with blindness to Canadian political reality. The negotiations for the FTA in the 80’s had many such examples-see Michael Hart’s Decision at Midnight or Gordon Ritchie’s Wrestling with the Elephant; great books.
