Sunday in the Park with George revival postponed following departure of two stars
A planned revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George will no longer go ahead as planned next year, following the departure of its two leads.

Looks like there's going to be a lot of change in Eurovision sponsors this year. Easyjet confirmed that they are no longer partners after their three year deal came to an end. This follows Moroccan Oil's deal ending too. At the moment only Idealista is listed as a partner on the Eurovision page.

I find it odd that people apply to get storms named after their kids (at least with the Met Office choices) because what then happens if that storm ends up being the one that leaves 50 dead :/

huh interestingly just talked to my telly partner about this, and he says it's partly due to the fact that lots of these tv shows now use movie stars as leads so once they've filmed one season they have to wait years before their schedules open up again

Did you know that bigfoot sightings overlap near perfectly with the range of the american black bear, indicating a potential symbiotic relationship between these two incredible species
A range map depicting bigfoot sightings and american black bear sightings. There is an image superimposed on the left of a black bear standing upright on two legs with a caption below saying “fun fact: black bears have often been recorded standing and walking on their hind legs”

Hahaha fucking helllllllll just read this. So many thoughts. Like “this is how you actually do money laundering, not on Oxford Street” and “British deference to small businesses being honest and taxpaying is the problem”. (Writes a small business owner.) www.theguardian.com/news/ng-inte...

The other Post Office scandal: how organised crime launders money on the high street
The long read: Hundreds of millions of pounds of dirty money are being deposited at post offices every year. So why are the police reluctant to investigate the scale of the problem?

The problem with the alert system is the siren noise. It sets a level of urgency and importance that mostly won’t be matched by the message. The text content was fine. Surely they must be fixable

I know you all hate the emergency alert about disposable barbeques. But yesterday I watched a man at our hotel breakfast set fire to a toaster by trying to toast a croissant - despite multiple signs telling him not to. Today he tried again. So, you know, calibrate for the average person.

Any time that emergency alert goes off, everyone seems to complain about it. I've always thought it's something that's great to have, it's the most effective way you can possibly get important information out to everyone. It can literally save lives.

Eurovision hosts next year confirmed as Burgas (Bulgaria's coastal resort - have been murmurings of government interference to secure this...). Looks like smallest arena in a while, but 4k fixed seats and likely overall 8k capacity (bigger than 6k for Liverpool). Tickets likely still eyewatering

I wouldn't call myself a cartoonist, but I had the vision and just needed it to be on paper to the best of my ability.
A hand drawn eight panel cartoon. First two panels are a colander sitting frowning on a shelf. Then the colander is frowning straining pasta, then three more panels of frowning sitting on a shelf. Then a big panel where it's projecting a bunch of crescent eclipse shapes and smiling with speech bubbles around saying "Wow! Look! Amazing! Beautiful!" And then one final panel where it's sitting on a shelf smiling.

MORE Eurovision news. In what would have seemed like a surprise until about a couple of weeks ago - Sofia is NOT hosting Eurovision 2026. Instead it's going to be Burgas on the Black Sea. The Final will be on 15 May 2027 at Arena Burgas with Semi Finals on the 11th and 13th May.

EBU has set a new rule for Eurovision that says: the winning broadcaster will automatically be ineligible to host the Contest if an armed conflict, a sensitive geopolitical situation, or any other situation materially affects the security, safety or stability of their state or immediate region.

To joylessly suck the fun out of this joke: this is actually true! As the BBC's budget has shrunk, there are fewer guests on programmes, which means you get more intra-BBC 'I'm not allowed to say anything of note' rather than getting a historian or the PM's biographer or a former No 10 aide on.
