Just got schooled by Brian Ripley, how is your Thursday going? #rstats He is so thorough. Issue was g++-16 complaining about C compiler flags, did not replicate on Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora. He pointed out in email that I had passed CFLAGS to PKG_CXXFLAGS so on his setting it happened. Point taken.
