It's worth saying that this is not how it works, at least right now. When LLMs respond to medical questions, they are drawing on the work of experts, though not only that. What RFK is describing is a centrally-controlled info system, which certainly is possible but not something we have yet

Page 1: A man is walking home, smoking a cigarette, being quietly trailed by a UFO above him. As he enters his apartment, two aliens watch from inside the ship. Alien 1, who has a large head, says, “that’s him. Let’s move.” Page 2: The man walks upstairs as the aliens watch from the entrance of the building. The man enters his apartment and greets his little dog. Suddenly there is a knock at the door.Page 3: he peers through his peephole, and sees the two aliens standing in the hallway. Alien 1 is holding a briefcase. From behind him, the voice of alien one: “don’t scream.” Page 4: The aliens are seated across the room on the man’s couch. Sadie is in her bed next to them. Alien 1 says, “you’re not in any danger. Have a seat.” The man looks at his dog and thinks, “sadie is unusually calm.” Alien 1: don’t scream, or it’s a problem.

There are people who point to the horror of the Trump policy on Gaza as proof that pro-Pal protesters didn't know how good they had it with Biden. But this article makes clear that it's only through the Biden admin's abject failure that Israel was able to run out the clock to Trump. To the hague!

So from what I understand, the report says there is such a thing as objective truth, but it's impossible to prove it to these disciplines, so wise administrators who believe in objective truth must impose it on their departments. I'm not a philosopher so I don't know if this argument is good or bad.

Over the weekend the university president published a statement apologizing for the faculty commencement speaker's remarks. Every line of Derek Peterson's reply is worth a read:
"The idea that graduations should be apolitical is ridiculous. Michigan is not a finishing school for polite young men and women. Our students are not wilting flowers. They have just finished their degrees at the foremost public university in the country. They can handle controversy.

"They do not need sentimental, cloying nostalgia. They need encouragement to face a flawed and unjust world head on, using the tools we've given them: critical reasoning, careful research, sympathy for the oppressed.

"That is why I spoke as I did. If parents want sentimental graduation ceremonies, perhaps they should send their kids to a different institution. Here at UM we teach our students to face controversies, not run away from them. That's what being the leaders and the best is about."

I do think we have a seriousness problem in the judiciary www.statesman.com/news/educati...
(Begin highlight one) “Students are neither catechized on the Commandments nor taught to adopt them,” (end highlight one) the judges wrote. “Nor are teachers commanded to proselytize students who ask about the displays or contradict students who disagree with them.”

In a dissenting opinion, Judge Leslie H. Southwick insisted that “S.B. 10 is facially unconstitutional under the Establishment and Free Exercise Clauses.” Southwick was joined by judges Priscilla Richman, James E. Graves Jr., Stephen A. Higginson, Dana M. Douglas and Irma Carrillo Ramirez in the dissent.

Those who have supported SB 10 say the Ten Commandments are a historical document. Attorney General Ken Paxton called the appeals court’s ruling “a major victory for Texas and our moral values.”

“The Ten Commandments have had a profound impact on our nation, and (begin highlight two) it’s important that students learn from them every single day,” (end highlight two) he wrote in a post online Tuesday evening.

Like you can look at successful interventions to construct an optimistic scenario. Iran (US) in 1953, Iraq (UK) in 1941, even Afghanistan in 1979. These bought max ~20 years of "stability" (from the outside perspective) before the blowback became apparent. 50 years is fantasy land
