I am so glad that, for whatever reason, they are not available in Australia. Seeing them in the flesh irregularly on our 6 month cycle tour across the USA was confronting enough. Although CT owners did interesting paint jobs.

I loved Missoula Montana but, their "big sky" attitude is taking a relatively walkable downtown and building car dependent satellite suburbs 6 and 7 miles out.

Except inner Melbourne and Sydney all Australian and lots of USA cities need to infill and not keep expanding out on the edges. If the footprint of my home city of Perth Western Australia with a population of just 2.5 million people was overlayed with Chicago it would fit 10 to 12 million people.

And here's this Western Australian come to whinge about AUD$2.60 per litre ~$10.40/gal (USD$7.40/gal). As prices are equalised to a point in Australia it would only be the remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities paying those sort of prices

‘It’s the best feeling’: how Copenhagen gave cyclists a green wave. “Traffic lights are synchronised so a rush-hour cyclist at 20km/h can catch green lights all the way.” If you want people to choose not to drive, make the non-driving trip better & easier for them. It’s as simple as that, really.

My fondest memories of Western Australia's C-19 lock downs & being able to sit on the front veranda & talking to neighbours on the footpath. That 2 months was the only time it was comfortable to relax out front. My home is alongside one of Perth, WA's eastern arterial roads into our CBD.

That would have been fabulous. Riding the LSD separated Cycle pedestrian paths was one of the highlights of my 10 days in Chicago in July. The only times I have heard noisier traffic is riding on the shoulder past Camp Pendleton on I-5 & Forrest Highway here in Western Australia.

Visiting the USA twice for a total of 19 months 10 years apart, I haven't come across the phenomenon of Australian drivers pulling up in 40 to 60 mph zones to let pedestrians cross like they do in the USA. It scares me, as I am expecting an inattentive driver to rear end those who have stopped.

An offence of jay walking does not exist in Australia, other than walking a reasonable distance under 250m(?)and crossing at a controlled intersection or crosswalk.

Oh, fabulous. Someone has found the link to the graphic I sent to Brent. I haven't been able to link to it, here in Australia for 2 or 3 years. I have saved the graphic and post it on appropriate threads hoping that someone will lead us back to original.

19 characters, as opposed to 35. We're on the "socials" where there are character limits. The same for headline banners. Us plebs may or may not know the technical names, but most of us know the investigators were looking for a spent bullet, or as you so technically put it "an empty cartridge casing

If you live in an urban or suburban area and most or all public amenities are too far away for most people to walk, that did not happen by accident and it does not have to stay that way.

Visiting Chicago IL from Perth Western Australia I so much appreciated being able to walk, cycle, and transit to points of interest around town. The 2.5 million people footprint of the greater Perth region in overlayed Chicago embraces 10-12 million people.

There was this one done by a mob out of Vancouver BC, about 15 years ago. It was based on work done out of one of the South American countries. I tried searching for it recently but the site is now a 404.

How do ordinary people afford meat and bread in the USA? Meat in the USA supermarkets was more expensive than here in Australia. Even cheap white bread was more expensive than ours. Our exchange rate is about USD$0.60 to AUD$1.00.

Just returned from a 6 month cycle tour of rural & flyover USA with a house mate. Café food is ordinary &the quantity is so big that we took turns in ordering as there was always too much in each serving for even people doing heavy exercise. The best meal I had was airline food on the flight home.

Cycle touring across the USA we frequented many a drive through. Stopped feeling less & less guilty when we were served almost straight away even in 10+ car queues. Then very few drive throughs have facilities to sit down & consume. So many small rural & fly over towns only have the drive through.

It’s important to ride your bike for errands so friends can spot your bike when they park theirs & come find you inside the store. I have no idea what kind of cars any of my friends drive, but I know their bikes! (& searching parking lots for a car is hard compared to finding bikes at 🚲 parking)

Probably more number 2. It will still be 💩, but the people most responsible like the military rentiers & profiteers will be largely isolated from the consequences. If anything the more apocalyptically difficult for the majority of the world's population will be more profitable for the war pigs.

In Australia in our criminal gaol system this would be counted as a "death in custody". Other than a cursory investigation & in "celebrity" cases the occasional hand wringing in parliament & media attention, little more. In our privately run mostly offshore immigration goals? We do not know.

The ground clearance is what I love about it. All the small FWDs I've owned barely have 6" clearance under the front differential/gearbox. I do a bit of bushwork with them & have been "hung up" several times. Why not a 4WD? They take me further into trouble when I pass the vehicles limitations

I applaud his decision. Based on what I read here on West Island, our equivalent of his fan base would eagerly eliminate any infrastructure that reduces traffic congestion, increases customer traffic at local businesses, improves public health & fitness, & makes it safer for pedestrians & cyclists.

Recently read a piece on the Cessna A-37 Dragonfly light attack jet aircraft that was basically a trainer with bombs & some guns. The anti-aircraft batteries had problems shooting it down because they were trained for much faster, larger aircraft like the F-4 Phantom. Sometimes slow & small is best.

Camping is something I enjoy doing on weekends and during my holidays. They are prisons and gaols. Everglades immigration prisons or gaols would be a better title. Then that is a misnomer. What do you call a human storage system for people who have been kidnapped and not given due process?

They are pulling similar crap in Perth Western Australia. It's like they are punching down & targeting gig workers who are some of the hardest working least paid people in our workforce. It seems like if traffic flow is an issue on major roads they show roadies. If it's downtown we show gig riders.

These "Cora" racks are common in Australia. This is poor placing for this sort of rack. For maximum capacity it should be 90° to the wall and about 1m out from the wall then double the capacity is available.
