Is there a live image of #NetBSD? How can I test if it will work with my hardware before repartitioning the disk? I found Jibbed NetBSD, but it hasn't been updated since 2015, and github.com/tsutsui/netbsd-teokureli…, which may work but is likely localized to Japanese

if you're gonna spend enough on a stolen credit card to trigger the fraud alert, maybe choose a slightly less suspicious merchant name
Chase Fraud: We declined $107.95 on the card ending in [censored] at LINK.COM* SPYTECH SOFT.

Right now it looks like AI can do "disruption" because you can apparently do things that require a team, as an individual, by taking advantage of highly subsidized token rates, or (at best) taking advantage of highly subsidized training regimes and stolen training data. But those rates will go […]

I agree that imperial units are silly and we should probably run on metric for lots of practical reason. But you gotta admit that they're a fun discussion prompt for trivia; everybody thinks there's an internal logic but it's just all weird history! For example nobody's gonna believe that it's […]

Seeing the damage that "AI" is doing to the Kernel (not just in Slop code being integrated that will bite us later but in making becoming a new kernel developer even harder than it is at a time where we should really be thinking about how to fill that pipeline) is super painful. I think that - […]

With everyone glazing ArtCraft because it's "hurting Adobe" and pointedly ignoring that it's AI slop (that doesn't even work as advertised, and is taking attention away from well-written Adobe alternatives), it's important to remember: The enemy of my enemy is not my friend.

If "AI" were a mere tool and not a political narrative you wouldn't need to headline "X used AI to do Y" all the time. Anything anyone does while "AI" is involved must reify "AI"'s power and relevance. Because it's not "just a tool", it's a bigger project of disenfranchisement some willingly […]
