Much like after the 2020 election, Trump’s attempts to manipulate his way to victory will depend on whether or not he can get enough people in enough positions of influence to go along with his schemes. We must not help him by perpetuating the Trumpist assertions of inevitability.

These ads go in the same category as brazen, easily disproven lies after ICE killings. It’s not about persuasion. It’s a display of power. They could have passed them off as PAC-funded. They added “paid for by the U.S. government” because they want us to know they can break the law with impunity.

This brief smirk at second 24 in the above video says to me that Schmitt actually believed that those three text messages on the posterboard were incriminating. "Whoo! Gotcha," end smirk. What a total buffoon! There's no mention of what game, city, anything in those three texts. Nana. Zilch.
Sen Schmitt (R - backwater MO), briefly smirks right as he says "So it's your testimony..." as if he's springing a perfect trap.

But the trap is from ACME, and Schmitt is the Coyote in the cartoon.

LOL, he had a smug look on his face the whole time like he had caught Smith red-handed and then got smacked by Klobuchar and couldn't handle it. Love it.

🤡 Schmitt beclowns himself 🤡 Schmitt concocted an elaborate conspiracy theory that Smith traveled to Atl for a Hawks game and to collude with Fani Willis, & flashed his "evidence" before accusing Smith of perjury. There's just one problem -- his facts were totally wrong. Here's the whole sequence:

holy shit -- turns out Jack Smith went to a Hawkeyes game in Maryland but Schmitt's team is so reckless they concocted a conspiracy theory that Smith was actually in Atlanta seeing a Hawks game and colluding with Fani Willis. Klobuchar points out to Schmitt, "you have your teams wrong."

Klobuchar has Schmitt dead to rights: "The game in fact was in Maryland. For a senator to have false information & imply, based on confusion about name of a team, that you were in another city & somehow involved that day in what was happening in Georgia & call you a 'dirtbag' deserves an apology"

Roger Marshall fervently believes that if he just explains how much the pregnant woman owed and how many times she'd been dragged into court for being poor, people would agree with his decision to have her arrested. this is what you call a candidate quality issue

2. The ad "frames" the arrest on the $50 instead of her "total" debts to Marshall...of $3,600 at 18% interest. Holy crap. Marshall was charging her 18% INTEREST??? Yeah, I'd call that "preying on low-income families."

Elites that surrended to Trump in 2025 miscalculated, letting his imagined cultural dominance spook them into inflating the price of getting on his bad side. But now the logic of collective resistance has been confirmed as sound. Should have realized this earlier! newrepublic.com/article/2158...

“‘So what you’re saying is the 15,000 number has not been vetted?” asked C. Murphy Hebert, the chief deputy in the Nevada secretary of state’s office. “I probably wouldn’t use the sentence, ‘It hasn’t been vetted,’” replied Kimberley Vogt, an official w/Homeland Security.” DEEPLY UNSERIOUS PEOPLE

Incredible. First Secretary Mullin claimed that DHS had identified 15,903 noncitizens on Nevada’s voter roll. Then DHS officials told a skeptical Nevada, no no no, that’s just people we flagged. Here are the names of 185 people we KNOW aren’t citizens. All 185 were citizens. DHS got 100% wrong.
When the Department of Homeland Security sent Nevada a list of 185 names last month that it claimed identified noncitizens who had been improperly allowed to register to vote, state election officials got to work.
On Tuesday, the state sent a strongly worded rebuke to the federal government: Every single person on the list was a lawful citizen.
"As for the 185 individuals, our records indicate that they were citizens," Greg D. Ott, a deputy attorney general in Nevada, wrote, according to a copy of a letter sent to Department of Homeland Security officials obtained through open records requests.
"You have provided nothing of substance to suggest otherwise."Following the meeting, Ms. Vogt sent a clarifying email to Nevada officials. "I also wanted to be sure I clarified that we did not reduce the 15,903 to 185," she wrote. "We've manually reviewed some of the 15,903 and confirmed 185 are not U.S. Citizens."
Now, Nevada officials are saying even that 185 number is wrong. They also took issue with a letter D.H.S. sent them in early September, in which the agency reiterated its initial claims about nearly 16,000 noncitizens on the rolls and pressured state officials to review each case in a letter to Nevada officials in early September.

In upside-down world, Justice Alito blames "the plaintiff States and the courts" for causing the late timing of USPS' attempt to interfere in mail voting by suing to stop it. Unmentioned by Alito: USPS issued the rule in violation of an injunction. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...
Second, the plaintiff States and the courts bear a substantial share of the blame for the rule’s timing. In April, the plaintiff States sued to challenge the President’s internal directive to subordinates mandating a rulemaking. For months, this litigation cast a cloud over the Government’s ability to issue a final rule. The District Court entered several injunctions months later prohibiting the Government from undertaking that rulemaking. Not only was the Government subject to months of premature litigation and a series of injunctions that this Court later determined were likely issued without jurisdiction, the Government had to wait nearly another full month for this Court to issue its decision so holding. Indeed, this Court spent from late July to the end of August drafting nearly 40 pages of opinions, including two dissents, despite the Government’s public notice that it would not publish a final rule while subject to the injunctions, see 91 Fed. Reg. 44880, and its representation that it had a strong interest in issuing its rule in early- to mid-August to allow time to implement it. The plaintiff States cannot claim the timing of the rule tilts the equities

On 9/3 a USPS official in sworn declaration "anticipated" that the "portal" for uploading state voter lists would be ready for "voluntary use "sometime" this week. This week is over and no portal, meaning USPS must reject ALL mail ballots if rule in effect. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Status of the Portal
3. The Postal Service has designed a portal that election officials, or their designees (Ballot Portal Users), will be able to use to provide their lists to the Postal Service of voters who are mailed ballots for Federal elections. Those lists will include the voter’s names and
addresses along with Intelligent Mail barcode information on the outgoing and return
ballot envelopes ballot mailers prepared. We continue to make refinements to the Portal, including consideration of changes needed in light of the TRO. We anticipate being in a position to make the Portal available to users for voluntary use by sometime next week.
