This whole thread is SO GOOD but this part in particular *slaps*. My whole job is about suggesting ways writers can make their stories flow more effectively, based on my experience as a reader/writer/sentient blob. Writers do not have to accept every idea. They are allowed to do their own thing!

When I worked in Germany I used to see staff canteens filling up from 11am – proof that lunch is whenever you want it to be. (And sometimes lunch is one giant plum-filled dumpling in a lake of custard OH BOY.)
