ICYMI!

Italo musicians Johan Agebjörn & Fred Ventura in black and white.

I have a big soft spot for this album. It’s something like a quirky mix of 60s girl groups, early aughts pop, and the last throes of 90s alt.

I'm always down for some musical journeys with Johan and Fred. I love this song and I'm super pumped for the new album (it's got a bunch of great collabs). #vehlinggo #SallyShapiro #JohanAgebjorn #FredVentura #ItaloDisco #SwedishDisco

This is also a corollary to my point about how the music of the 90s is so much more represented on CD than what's followed -- the 2000s DVD era really was kinda nutty overproduction of a lot of things that these days just would live on streaming and never see physical release. (Great story!)

I used to use InDesign regularly when I was still in newspapers, but now I can’t navigate it. Maybe Scrivener would make it easier for me to figure out how to layout this music book I’m working on?

Markup mode ain’t your bag? The app I use relies on it to be like a basic typewriter deal. I can’t think of the name right now, but it’s been a great way to dodge Google Docs internet-connectedness shenanigans. I’m going to investigate Scrivener tho,

Newman was SO happy to be an old man on screen. Great as he was in his youth, he became almost superhumanly relaxed as an actor post-50, which led to an amazing and varied collection of performances in movies like The Verdict, Nobody's Fool, Slap Shot, and Color of Money (which won him his Oscar).
