I’m still trying to figure out what any of this means, but especially this:
A quote from Trump’s interview: « Now California is a little bit fictitious because in California they judge every time you lower the oil, they judge that. But I had no other way down there. And then I said to my people, including him, I said, "I hate to do this, you guys, but we have to take the nuclear weapon away from you." »

I know this is not an original thought, but based on that 4-song EP of outtakes from Songs in the Key of Life it really is a crime that we have yet to see any real kind of archival project for Stevie Wonder’s discography while we’re on the (approx.) 17th reissue of the Bowie or Costello catalogs.

If you’re not in Canada and don’t think that the mood is shifting pretty dramatically at the moment because of the Lake America & tariffs stuff, well, this is the first time I’ve seen this kind of email:
An email from the Toronto Star: « They tax our goods.
Not our pride.
When it matters most, show where you stand. Get your Canadian flag at the Star Store today. »The rest of the email from the Toronto Star: « Trade talks. Tariffs. Our independence is being tested
- including our right to have a free, independent press that answers to Canadians, not foreign interests.
But here's what they can't tax: who we are and what we believe in.
There's something powerful about standing up and saying it out loud. About flying your flag, not just as decoration, but as a declaration of what matters to
you.
This is the moment to show where you stand.
Get your Canadian flag at the Star Store today. »

I know that The Candidate (1972) is probably not the only movie to have ever framed a candidate’s speech this way, but I’m sort of fascinated by how Jon Ossoff’s speeches often use a similar (and unusual) shot/angle as the ones in an especially iconic scene from that movie.

It’s funny how until I heard classic-era Shania albums in Dolby Atmos, I never quite realized how much Mutt Lange was basically just impersonating Dwight Yoakam on backing vocals all throughout The Woman in Me—and it’s probably a big part of the appeal of that album specifically for me.
