Somerville is intentionally making roads harder to drive on. It’s getting results. - The Boston Globe
To make roads safer, the city says, sometimes you have to put some obstacles in drivers' way.

Had to re-post this because @bsky.app crashed at the exact time I tried to post yesterday, and I'm honestly not ruling out that being my fault for trying to post a 21-thread skeet with 48 photos all at once.

First time in Seattle, so naturally I spent most of my time there riding all forms of transit and taking photos of crosswalks. So, now I give to you my #urbanism hot takes: a thread 🧵

••IT’S GORGEOUS! Since my first year on the Council we’ve been advocating for a safe crossing and traffic calming on Washington St, in front of the police station, a very busy and dangerous stretch without good crossings.

I've seen enough. The Cummins "Highway" (that name) complete streets redesign is a shining example of what Boston can do when we put people and safety first in our priorities in street design Sidewalk level bikeway, raised crossings, new trees, traffic circle slowing down drivers. Beautiful & safer

Thank you, and solidarity forever.
I congratulate Representative Marjorie Decker on winning the election for State Rep in Cambridge. I am profoundly grateful to every voter and volunteer who made our campaign possible.

Although we did not win this election, we built something real. Together, we knocked 54,054 doors. 653 people volunteered. We took on the political establishment and built a movement that could not be ignored. Thousands of neighbors joined conversations about getting ICE out of Mass., getting money out of politics, and delivering a State House that works for everyone. Those relationships and the power people discovered in acting together will endure. We look forward to working with Representative Decker and our community in advancing the commitments made during this election.

This campaign may be ending, but our movement's fight for democracy and transparency continues. Thank you, Cambridge. I love you all, and I look forward to continuing to organize alongside all of you. Solidarity forever!

Urbanist Philomena Cunk. Some people think a "flex post" is when you go on the internet to show off your new haircut or a fancy dinner, but in urbanism, it’s just a row of wobbly plastic sticks that drivers use as a sort of high-stakes bowling minigame on their way to the shops.

A @bostonglobe.com headline makes the claim that "Most Mass. voters oppose" a congestion toll in polling. But that's not accurate: Pollsters didn't ask whether voters oppose the policy. They asked “would you be willing to pay to drive downtown if there was less traffic – yes or no?” #mapoli (1/3)

Most Mass. voters oppose congestion pricing aimed at easing traffic into Boston, new Suffolk/Globe poll finds - The Boston Globe
More than 69 percent of the 500 registered voters surveyed in the Suffolk/Globe poll said they would not be willing to pay to drive to downtown Boston if there was less traffic.
