+++ DIE Superzelle +++ 19.05.2018 nahe Enid, Oklahoma: Der Chasingtag ging langsam los, doch dann entstand eine Superzelle mit Tornadowarnung. Beim Abschwächen wurde sie zur LP-Superzelle – kaum Niederschlag, dafür mit perfekter Sicht auf die rotierende Aufwindstruktur.

Zwei Gewitter, ein Standort - nur 1 Stunde Unterschied ⛈️ 22.06.2017: Über 1000 km Sturmjagd, doch die Highlights passierten am selben Ort bei Fulda. Erst eine giftige Multizelle, dann kurz darauf ein zweites, völlig anderes Gewitter im Sonnenuntergang. Unvergesslich! 🌩️

Something exciting that I'm currently working on is adding vertical cross-sections to the ESSL Radar Displayer. And one of the more interesting phenomena that I've seen in them is debris fallout from the tops of storms with violent tornadoes. Here is an example of precisely 4 years ago today:

May the depth of the inflow layer have a negative effect too? In the case with a lot of humidity in the lower atmosphere the inflow layer is much deeper. Could this have a negative influence on the tilting of low level vorticity?

1/2 That's the point I was wondering about so often! While falling, precip doesn't warm adiabaticly as air would when drawn downward. The typically considered things are evaporatuve cooling and precip loading but the cooling effect of the temperature of the precip itself is never really considered.

(2) ...constant pressure gradient leading to uniform acceleration. Even if higher pressure in the RFD enhances the gradient in my mind a resulting stronger inflow from the RFD side should be relatively wide and not in a narrow band. But it's so common in strong tornadoes and I wonder how this forms.
