Will never happen. carney talks big, has a great quip available but will not acknowledge his policy is rooted in 1970s data & ideology. As Markham (as well as me and many other) notes, those in power in the switch from steam to gas couldn't admit it was possible. Renewables+battery wins.

Ukraine blows up one russian data centre, 50% of support for conservative & right wing politics disappears across multiple countries. Right wing, fascist, separatist support is a lie. Supported by cowardly or fully compromised media.

You should all smoke 5 packs a day. You can afford it and hey why not. I also heard radium was good for digestion. I understand pcb's are good for your skin. I've been told Cesium 137 is an excellent tanning option. Because AI can cure cancer is definitely a thing.

My grandma was a painter. ALL of her figurative paintings could be traced back to a photo. (The vast majority were photos found in her albums, but she also used magazines if there was a pic she particularly liked.)

This clever corvid has figured out that we put out the bird food when we get back from Sam's walk. It followed us from our gate and talked to us for the entire walk this morning.

Alberta Landscape # 4 - Your daily inspiration to go vote Oct. 19 (or vote early, Oct. 13 - 17) to keep this country united! (and take someone with you) Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Feeling thankful for so many things, not least of which is being Canadian. 🇨🇦 1/3

Watercolour painting by Jennifer Annesley of a prairie landscape in winter, framed by weeping birch branches backlit with low angled morning sun. The horizon line of trees is grazed with sunlight and a snow covered meadow is still in shadow. Colours are predominantly ultramarine blue, burnt sienna, cadmium yellow middle, with a full value range from black to white.

I've had a whole complex about how I want to develop the skill to paint without reference. Analog Imagination was the ultimate experiment in that, and through it I realized it just looks bad. I went right back to using it. Even just as a seed for invention, everything looks better.

I never start any project without multiple reference photos and grids.

And honestly, showing your process by posting WIP photos is the best way for people to know you're not using AI. It also helps non artists understand the time, hard work and details that go into a piece. And it might also keep them interested and engaged in what you are doing.

0183

JayIsPainting 🍁 @jayispainting.earthskyart.ca · 21h

Grids! Reference photos! Use them! They're good! And don't let gatekeepers tell you how to make your art. And you don't have to keep your process hidden or secret. IMO, the process -is- the art. The finished piece is the byproduct.

JayIsPainting 🍁 @jayispainting.earthskyart.ca · 22h

I don't do figurative work & my stuff is quite impressionistic but i still use reference images (currently JWST & Hubble) for virtually all my paintings. I also use grids! Use whatever it takes. Except AI. THAT is cheating.

To get my blacks like in this piece (it is still available), I use layers of indigo, Prussian blue & Egyptian Violet. Not only does it avoid mud, the layers give a real feeling of depth to something that could easily feel very flat.

Pain of a nebula. Swirling orange & reds in a finger shape pointing to the upper left, a spiral galaxy if the background & a large area of not really black with hundreds of stars

JayIsPainting 🍁 @jayispainting.earthskyart.ca · 11/10/2026

I did forget to put on the 2 big globs of white. I use one for the yellow/orange/reds & one for blues/purples to help reduce unwanted mixing) And even though it's a space painting, there is no black. I never use black on any painting, even if it requires something to look black It's the mud maker
