Patients with ADHD will no longer be formally diagnosed. Instead people will be encouraged to say ‘oh, he’s just a bit, you know,’ while doing a new hand gesture designed to indicate, you know, that he’s a bit like that

The Band With Rocks In would like to announce that they are no longer comfortable supporting Ed Sheeran on his tour of the Sto Plains.
A still from the 1997 animated version of Soul Music, based on Terry Pratchett’s book. Buddy, Discworld’s reluctant human rock star, strikes a suitably heroic pose with his guitar at the microphone. Behind him, Cliff the troll drummer looms among the rocks, while the Librarian — definitely not a monkey — plays the organ. To the right, Glod the dwarf, who can blow anything, provides brass accompaniment.

Hello! Quick correction to this, as I've seen it crop up all of the place! It wasn't "an email that runs to 27 pages", it was "27 pages of emails", lots of different conversations between Rob, Amazon and BBC Studios etc. I wouldn't want people to think it was just one long, super-mail!

Can someone commision me to write something on why 'Common People' both is and isn't a song about class war, and why that's something you'll instinctively understand if you were raised in the UK but isn't so obvious if you weren't? I'll do it for cheap. I'm very good.

I KNEW IT. They have shaved 10g off Snickers in the UK. They were 50g, now they’re 40g. Some stores still have the biggers ones and I bought one for comparison. Same price, obviously. We have lost 20% of Snickers.

A lot of the cast on those shows played multiple parts. It was very much an atmosphere of "we need a voice for this character, who's around today?", unfortunately that leads to not-very-useful "other voices provided by the cast" and "various" credits. You'd need to track down the director!

Have a Sunday morning deep-dive into one of the great alt-rock debuts, wot I wrote for @super-deluxe.bsky.social superdeluxeedition.com/reviews/smas...
The front cover of Smashing Pumpkins classic 1991 debut, Gish. It features a photo of the band taken with a fish eye lense, th epicture is black and white and then artificially colourised to give it a surreal feeling, surrounded byy a ring of red flowers. The band's name and the title of the album are hand written in Billy Corgan's hand writing, against a dark, plush background.

Why Good Omens 3 has a Terry Pratchett problem - spoiler review - HeyUGuys

We were told many times that the GO finale was based on a Pratchett/Gaiman storyline. Someone really, really wanted us to know that "this is not the Good Omens sequel Terry planned".

Marc Burrows @20thcenturymarc.marcburrows.co.uk · 13/05/2026
The absence of "Story by Terry Pratchett and..." in the Good Omens 3 credits is very interesting, isn't it? His only mention is for the novel. People go to war over TV credits. If someone's not listed it's a choice.

Saw the Reading line up and genuinely thought, just for a minute, that it said “Chas N Dave”. Which would be extraordinary for several reasons.
The Reading festival 2026 line up. Chase & Status are listed over two lines, next to the grime artist Dave, meaning reading across a single line it says “Chase & Dave”.

Oh, and Michael says how happy he is to be making his first solo album - Off The Wall - having apparently forgotten the four he made for Motown in the 70s. A small detail, but it annoyed me.

and no-one involved in Michael, certainly not Jaafar Jackson or Antoine Fuqua, is capable of telling that story based on the evidence here, and the Jackson estate would never sanction a version that did it justice anyway.

It ends with a hint of a sequel. My god, I hope they don't make it. Because that's a film about an addict horrifically damaged by his fame in the midst of accusations of the worst crime imaginable, mutilating himself with surgery and entering a slow spiral toward an early death

Marc Burrows @20thcenturymarc.marcburrows.co.uk · 24/04/2026
This is getting bad reviews because it's a laughably cliched join-the-dots biopic that tells a surface-level version of a human story and makes no attempt to show us the real man that inspired it. Sanitised and rubber stamped.
110
Marc Burrows @20thcenturymarc.marcburrows.co.uk · 24/04/2026
A good chunk of Jackson fandom thinks this is getting stinky reviews because the media want to pull down and victimise their hero. There's been accusations of racism (even though some of the best Black film critics in the world have hated it) and bias. No.

Marc Burrows @20thcenturymarc.marcburrows.co.uk · 24/04/2026
Do you know who isn't a terrible actor? Colman Domingo. He's terrifying in this. He elevates the material. He's playing a complicated person, and every time he's on screen it feels like we're watching a different movie. Nobody else in this film is doing half as much work.
110
Marc Burrows @20thcenturymarc.marcburrows.co.uk · 24/04/2026
And maybe that's not his fault. Maybe it's because he's not been given a script about a real person. There's virtually nothing on the page. Even so, it's a cloying turn.
110
Marc Burrows @20thcenturymarc.marcburrows.co.uk · 24/04/2026
The main issue is with Jaafar Jackson who is an *extraordinary* dancer but a *terrible* actor. He gets Jackson's moves down perfectly. It's genuinely electrifying in places. But the rest of his performance is wooden, mannered, caricatured and, occasional, unintentionally funny. You snigger at it.
110
Marc Burrows @20thcenturymarc.marcburrows.co.uk · 24/04/2026
This isn't a film about the real human Jackson. It's a film about a one dimensional cartoon character. The music is great, the dance sequences are amazing, the script is *awful*. It's laughable. Insultingly so.
