I've always suspected the reason there were no subtitles for the Chewbacca was his dialogue was so expletive laden it couldn't be shown on a family film. Ditto R2

Bob Larkin’s cover to 1980’s Crazy #60 featuring Spock & Kirk from Star Trek and, from The Muppets, the Pigs In Space. It’s a great tragedy that nobody in power saw this & thought, this is exactly the kind of movie we ought to be making.

You're regular reminder that #javascript `Math.random()` is not cryptographically secure. (Also, for 7 years, the code implementing Math.random() in Chrome lacked the entropy it was supposed to have.)

Manchester City cheated Premier League rules, the Commission found. Did it also cheat HMRC? We've examined the decision and leaked Mancini documents. We think City likely failed to pay £12m in tax. There should be a criminal investigation. Thread:

I've been thinking a lot about friction, especially in recruiting. There are many situations where a certain amount of friction is required to prevent the system being overwhelmed. And we've made a lot of things too easy.

If we look for a moment at Elon Musk, for instance, you can see the harm he's inflicting is not because he has developed super-advanced technologies beyond everyone's wildest dreams, but because he uses the power he has carelessly and believes he can act above the law. That is the danger.

I was thinking of replying to that - we know that there are transferable *deficits* like innumeracy, poor organisation, not listening, rudeness etc, so the transferable skills are just the absence of these deficits. When there was a war, it was pretty obvious who would make a good officer.
