If he wasn’t interested in the puzzles themselves, would it have been better to regift it? Throw it out? Grit his teeth and solve a few? Pretend to like it?

Why is “finding a way to enjoy a gift that a human gave him, which may or may not have been otherwise enjoyable” put on the same level as “finding a way to avoid human contact with your own child”? I’m genuinely not getting it. Who is harmed by not using a sudoku book the same way you would?

The continual wilful abdication of responsibility by government up and down the scale is what left the door open for companies like Jacobs and Veolia and Evoqua to walk right in

I just need to decide on borders, and the question is whether to keep them in the same register as the top or use big strips of fabric with stars or go to classic patchwork shapes or what.

I should be clear that the Woobles did not intend political commentary on billionaires or annoying Washington state representatives. Also if you know of a good arigurumi yacht pattern of the right size please tell me.

The latter is Not Cheap, but I’m new to FPP and I have a different FPP that I’m _not_ doing. When I got that one, I added up the cost of the pattern and fabric and executive function needed to figure it out and decided the upcharge for the company’s kits was Entirely Reasonable.

The advent calendar is from the Woobles, and I’m well aware I’m paying for instruction I don’t really beed any more, but Of the four crochet creatures, two are hilariously political: a sea lion with reindeer disguise to hide from Marie Glusenkamp Perez, and an orca who needs a yacht to sink.

My goal for this year was to do a lot of fiber crafts, and I mostly didn’t. But I had reasons for that goal, mostly involving deciding what to do with all the Aspirational Craft Stuff I have, so I’m going to try again. I’ve bought myself an advent calendar and a block of the month subscription.

One of the great things about my studio is that the pride flag gets periodically vandalized and it's just part of the budget to put it back up. And any prospective students or parents who don't like it get gently referred to other, lesser studios.

There's a reason that AI is so beloved by fascists right now—like fascism, it tempts us to abandon the complexity of the world for the simplicity of power, & to give up the need to do the difficult but necessary work to understand the world by allowing some authority to impose its own understanding

I am concerned that a big win in November will be interpreted as a template for the future and induce short-term thinking. I need public voices of consequence to get politicians to focus on long-term problems and not give permission for the reversion to "normal" politics. (6/6)

And of course i missed the fine print; the first discount was had a fairly low maximum dollar amount, and I missed it. Oh well, the discount is still pretty good overall and stacked with the credit card offer. Per the rep, Petsmart mostly uses gig delivery from local stores, which is…weird to me.

They’re doing 40% off the first autoship (lesser % off subsequent autoships), so I ordered one of everything my spoiled children usually get. They may end up with a lifetime supply of the non-prescription food. Hopefully they will not change their minds about how wonderful it is. 🤣

Apparently Petsmart autoship…isn’t shipped. So I have to be home this afternoon to receive a gig delivery. This is Annoying AF, because the shippers have access to the apartment building, but delivery people don’t. If I hadn’t saved _so_ much money, I’d cancel, but oh well. I can do stuff at home.

I was working with someone who is fairly neutral on AI and was just incensed that Copilot couldn’t make a template for legal numbering. (That is deep magic, but Copilot ought to understand the eldritch horrors that make up Word numbering from at least Word 2003.)

Chuck Jones' Rule 8. "Whenever possible, make gravity the Coyote’s greatest enemy."
The trolley problem. The road runner is on one of the trolley tracks, and Wile E. Coyote is in charge of the switch.

When he throws the switch, the trolley falls vertically through the tracks. A trick of the perspective means he is actually underneath, not beside the track, so he is flattened by the trolley.

Trolley problem but the roadrunner is on the track. When the coyote pulls the lever, the streetcar lurches sideways off the track and flattens him instead.

On vacation, so taking time to migrate off of several Omarchy-aligned products. Still shocked at the cash support for Omarchy — it's aesthetic is low-tier-to-mid at best, despite that being maybe its main selling point? AFAICT the ONLY reason to support is if you want to signal alignment with DHH 🤷‍♀️
