TracketPacer @tracketpacer.com · 27/09/2026any advice for teaching a very scared dog how stairs work? 😅 19270
Handsome Ralph @handsomeralph.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Jar of peanut butter at the ready did wonders for ours. 000
korigan.bsky.social @korigan.bsky.social · 27/09/2026One thing that freaked out our dog was the gap in the steps, not so much the stairs. On stairs where it was all solid, it was not a problem. Maybe start somewhere outdoors with just a handful of steps (in front of a building, nice and wide, at an angle). 000
Dr. Joe @portfolioso.com · 30/09/2026Pro tip: also teach pup how to come down the stairs. I was so proud when I taught her how to go up the stairs and she figured it out. Problem was, she didn't know how to come down. She loved going up and thought it was a game, but would always cry for me to get her. This repeated for hours, lolz 000
Dltd @dltd.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Maybe try smaller stairs outside like they have in, idk, parks or some streets that have them and exercise there. maybe you have various lengths in your area outside. And I would go with Jebus from other comments their way, a similar approach worked fine long ago for the dog I had back then. 000
omgitsbees @omgitsbees.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Lots of treats and showing them how to go up the stairs. It'll take a lot of time and patience. Really the first step is figuring out the treat that is a huge motivator for them. For millie its chicken, and peanut butter. 000
Bas Bosschert @asby.org · 27/09/2026www.instagram.com/reel/DTDAmXd... or maybe the dog is a diva and wants something like this?instagram.comInstagramCreate an account or log in to Instagram - Share what you're into with the people who get you. 000
Sauna Aika @saunaaika.bsky.social · 27/09/2026There are treats, and then there are high value treats. But patience and love are even more important. When Mischief went to beginner obedience, she spent the whole first session in my lap. In the last couple minutes, she finally relaxed enough to at least sniff a treat. 100
Kit Eason @kitlovesfsharp.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Seriously, borrow another (friendly!) dog which can do it. They learn quickest from each other. 000
imposingllama.bsky.social @imposingllama.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Are they hard stairs? I'd recommend getting pieces of carpet for the steps if they are. Also, it might just take time. 000
Jebus @warjebus.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Treats are great but sometimes you have to show them it in parts. My dog couldn't do stairs when we got him, even for treats. We eventually found out he could go up them but not down so we worked with up for a bit. The next thing we did it put a sheet up so he wasn't working with the full 130
CtrlAltWin @ctrlaltwin.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Treats + don’t force them. It will have the opposite effect. They will get curious and try them in time or ignore them forever by themselves 000
David A хакер @riskymanag3ment.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Lots of treats. Sometimes using a leash to help gently move forward towards the treats on the stairs can help. But don't over do that. 000
wboettcher.bsky.social @wboettcher.bsky.social · 27/09/2026High value treats e.g. Cheetos, pieces of real bacon. 000
Joe ❌👑 @joedillan.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Treats, and I definitely walked up and down the stairs on my hands and knees a couple times, to help him get the idea. Idk if it actually helped, but he certainly figured it out 😅😅 I think he was just tired of watching me make myself look like a fool, who knows 🤣 000
