New Yorker cartoon: A couple women at what appears to be a cosmetics counter. One says, frowning, to the other: "For Mother's Day, my mom would like the activism of her youth to not be for nothing." INDEED. As would I. MOTHERFUCKERS seems an apt term for the goddamned Republicans on this particular holiday, does it not? And NOT IN A GOOD WAY. Fucking douchecanoes. HOW IS IT THAT IN THE YEAR OF OUR FUCKING LORD 2025 WE ARE STILL ALLOWING THE PENIS-BEARING PEOPLE TO DICTATE EVERY FUCKING THING ON THIS PLANET? We have access to the same fucking weaponry they do. What is WRONG with us? Why are we still being oppressed by that fucking half of the human race? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND IT. Especially since we also probably have a LARGE segment of the male GAY population on our side, to say nothing of the trans community - BOTH SIDES. WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE WAITING FOR? Oh. That's right - there is a massive chunk of OUR side that's still goddamned treasonously on THEIR side. Fucking voting for THEM. Selling out their rights, OUR rights. Nobody ever went broke underestimating the collective stupidity of large segments of the FEMALE population, any more than the ENTIRE population. Sadly, as a whole, WOMEN are no fucking better than MEN. No smarter, no kinder, no more able to think critically. THAT is why we are still FUCKED. Human beings are fucking stupid. But come the fuck ON, Bridget - there HAS to be a way to turn this fucking ship around, I'm not smart enough to figure this out, but SURELY between us all we can come up with SOMETHING. Jesus fucking Christ, enough is enough. Offer amnesty to the good ones, and then RIDE AT FUCKING DAWN. Goddamnit. I am so sick of this shit.

Agree with you and your ALText. So much fuckery that’s undone social progress comes from Reagan & his ilk, constantly undoing every advance made since the last Gilded Age and leading very few back to this current one. We had unions and civil rights etc but the GOP since 1980 gnawed away at it

One of the most depressing things, for me and for her, is my 80-something and increasingly infirm mother watching the rights she fought for back in the '60s being taken away. She told me recently "I feel like we won the battle and lost the war." 💔
