Rodger Sherman @rodger.bsky.social · 12/09/2026the college sports bill push is so weird. Like they don’t have a bill yet because every version they produce makes a different set of stakeholders mad (they’re getting close, supposedly) but they’ve spent two years appearing on TV to tell us to support the bill 1526219
SanDiegoan @solana77.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Do they think this will help republicans in the midterm? 000
Devin Chaloux @devinchaloux.com · 12/09/2026Also no one wants to deal with the elephant in the room is that athletes play for both public and private universities and if students were to unionize (because now they're employees), they'd be governed by two different sets of rules 040
@geoffoneil @geoffoneil.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Deion Sanders has a legitimate commercial for it now 210
Domenic Noto @dnoto7.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Also - the house is never in session so what is the point of pushing it? 040
David Dayen @ddayen.bsky.social · 12/09/2026It's moved a bit further than this. It's entirely possible the bill will get a vote in the Senate next week. Whether it will break a filibuster is another matter. 040
smuckleskelly.bsky.social @smuckleskelly.bsky.social · 12/09/2026And the dudes who are telling us to support the bill are the ones whose teams they support/coach have expensive rosters full of transfers 070
Matthew @mattvsself.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I got a spam text from some PAC pushing a Nick Saban video in support of the bill, and buddy, let me tell you: Nick Saban shouldn't be the guy you use to push any kind of fairness in college sports proposal. 1151
Michael Felder @itsfelder.bsky.social · 12/09/2026It is a joke and the ads get worse and worse and more vague. 0190
Possible Cabbage 🟢 @possiblecabbage.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Especially amusing that this is happening in parallel to a historically unproductive Congress. 160
It’s Liz,, a noted person And Jackie Young n Charlotte Flair fan @freedompimp2012.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I think they’re really just trying to do too much with the bill when they really need to just give the NCAA a mechanism to stop losing in court when they make rules and protect title IX and non revenue sports by making federal funds contingent on following sport sponsorship minimums 160
Martin Tupperware @wsu-a.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I'm just glad Maria Cantwell is behind it, she's been an amazing caretaker for her in-state programs. 000
Reed Strong @notreedstrong.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I already opposed it but after getting a spam text I now openly hate it and everyone supporting it 000
John @disneycityfc.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Even if the thing gets passed we all know this will end up struck down in federal court because some boosters got mad at the NCAA or Monster Energy Big XII 000
madrmaxim.bsky.social @madrmaxim.bsky.social · 12/09/2026There are too many moneyed interests on all sides, no matter what the bill says someone with a checkbook is going to be pissed. Seems to be a bottomless pit of political donations...if you could add up how much money has been spent it'd probably fund nonrevenue sports for a decade 010
