Rodger Sherman @rodger.bsky.social · 01/10/2025You’ve gotta admit it’s very convenient that 100 mph is basically the upper limit for how fast humans can throw baseballs. Pretty much the best argument against the metric system 2483277
Rodger Sherman @rodger.bsky.social · 01/10/2025I believe the driving force behind America eventually going metric will be 5’11 guys 91768
Brett Marsh @bmarshchem.bsky.social · 01/10/2025Just like Celsius was defined by the freezing and boiling points of water, miles per hour is defined by the speed of a fastball 020
celebatemonk.bsky.social @celebatemonk.bsky.social · 02/10/2025Ha haha ha. As Mr Spock would say, “fascinating “ 010
Steve McPherson @steventurous.bsky.social · 01/10/2025Fahrenheit is more intuitive than Celsius. On a hundred degree scale, 0 being real fuckin cold and 100 being real fuckin hot just makes sense. That range in Celsius is -18 to 38 like WTF 2220
Jean-Paul Blartre: Mall Cop @oldpappythomas.bsky.social · 02/10/2025"oh he threw that 40 centimeters per millisecond"--statement made by an absolute buffoon or frenchman but i repeat myself 020
Jeff Janis @jeffjanis.bsky.social · 02/10/2025And 100 yards happens to be the length of a football field? 030
Duggy Endo @duggyendo.bsky.social · 02/10/2025one litre of water weighs one kilo and has the dimensions 10cmx10cmx10cm. One cubic metre of water weighs one metric ton and is 1,000 litres. If I had a tank of water 3'x3'x3' (cubic yard), how many gallons is it and what does it weigh in pounds...without looking anything up? 160
Narcissistic Possum @bogyankee.bsky.social · 02/10/2025That's not the upper limit of what pitchers can throw. It's the upper limit that catcher's mitts are rated for. If a pitcher throws harder it voids the catcher's warranty, there's a ton of paper work to fill out, it's just a big hassle. 110
Su Brock @brocksu.bsky.social · 02/10/2025Dumb statement. What about exit velocity? And players now routinely throw the ball over 100 mph. Have you even watched Mason Miller? Many fielders also throw harder than 100. The question is why do we say they throw *hard* and not *fast*, when they are throwing a *hardball* as a *fastball* pitch. 140
olddarknavy.bsky.social @olddarknavy.bsky.social · 03/10/2025God damn, you’re right. Throwing out all my appliances, selling my car and importing another. It will be good to be 6ft again. 183cm doesn’t have the same cache. 000
F.W.A. @fraudwasteandabuse.bsky.social · 01/10/2025My man, im surprised you never heard of Mets Phenom Sidd Finch. 020
ladiaz.bsky.social @ladiaz.bsky.social · 02/10/2025if more is better, 100 mph is roughly 160 kph, helloooo metric system! 010
Regina George Clooney @hbs9.bsky.social · 01/10/2025bsky.app/profile/razz...Razzball@razzball.bsky.social104.5 MPH from Mason Miller lol 130

Eric - Go Hawks @proggyboog.bsky.social · 01/10/2025And nearly every pitcher these days can throw at least 150km/h 000
Katherine of Tarragon @kathoftarragon.bsky.social · 02/10/2025If you could invent a measurement system based on baseball, I’d wholeheartedly support that. 000
