Bowl season brought us one of my new favorite trick plays of all time: Bowling Green successfully dressing their quarterback in a punter costume and throwing a 40-yard touchdown open.substack.com/pub/rodgersh...

How to disguise your quarterback as your punter

One of the best trick plays we've ever seen is one of the simplest.

This was a fantastic article. Thank you for telling us why it wouldn’t work in the nfl, you preempted my question.

Saddened by the Danny White erasure but then again I am old

I appreciate how many words you wrote highlighting this glorious but ultimately meaningless moment

Enjoyed this, but would like to petition for restoring the Tom Tupa content.

“I initially wrote like 300 words about QB-punter crossover stars like Norm Van Brocklin, Tom Tupa, and Randall Cunningham, but then remembered I’m trying to keep these newsletters shorter.” Don’t forget Danny White!

This is great, and also reminds me of the time I learned college football allows jersey number shenanigans: Lane Kiffin doing insane shit at USC

Now I want to see a team just change everyone’s numbers around for a bowl game. You’ve spent weeks keying on #4 in film but now he’s 81 and the other WR is 4. Punter was 16, now he’s 1 and the qb is 11. Dogs and cats living together. Total anarchy.

I feel like this can be exploited further by using the baggy jerseys special teams guys have to put on sometimes to avoid penalties for having duplicate numbers on the field

Are we still gonna get the report on Tupa and Van Brocklin?

Probably worth pointing out it's not entirely new, Virginia Tech pulled this off in the Camping World Bowl in 2017. x.com/treadmillhor...

Henderson got to run a fake punt of his own during the game, and he ran for 6 yards. Issue: it was 4th and 7. That was a very fun game to experience in person.
