NEW: Republican senators reportedly sold the White House on a plan Monday night to pass the SAVE America Act through a reconciliation package after enacting a funding bill for most of the DHS, which has been shut down for over a month now. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Yes but there's one small wrinkle: the Parliamentarian isn't actually the one who makes the ruling. The presiding officer is. If JD Vance takes the chair and ignores the Parliamentarian it would take 13 Republicans voting with all Democrats to overrule him. Now that could happen but...

Note: they told the orange one they’d pass SAVE AFTER funding TSA. You’d think the commander in chief would want a fully funded Dept Of Homeland Security when fighting a war with a country that uses terrorism on a regular basis.

Fortunately, once the 2026 election is over, Trump will lose all interest in “voter integrity” because he will have no personal interest in future elections and doesn’t give a damn about the GOP. So defeating the SAVE Act may be the end of the legislative battle.

My guess? The SAVE-Reconciliation idea isn’t to pass the SAVE act. It’s to trick the baby into letting the adults fund TSA by rattling the keys in front of him. GOP knows SAVE can’t pass by Reconciliation, but it’s betting Trump’s too stupid to know that. Probably a safe bet.

reality check 🤔😕😢 @realitycheck.bsky.social · 24/03/2026

It's so incredibly obvious that the parliamentarian wouldn't allow this. So what's the play here? Banking on Trump being too stupid to realize it won't work? Or everyone knows it won't work, and it's yet another TACO to get TSA paid?

Trump says that he will not approve TSA funding unless it's tied to passage of his voter suppression law, also known as the SAVE Act — or the SAVE Trump's Ass Act. He knows that he and Republicans are doomed in the midterms, and the only way to combat that is to make it harder for people to vote.
