I am sooooooo tired of people complaining how Russian novels involve characters having “ten different names and you gotta memorize them all” then don’t fucking read it, if it’s so hard for you to learn other cultures’ naming conventions. (It’s really not that hard though)

Man, I remember reading Crime & Punishment in high school (of my own free will bc it made me feel cool & smart & arguably with lots of it going over my head & man I should reread it sometime) & figuring out the conventions of patronymics as I read was fun. Come on, y'all, figuring things out is fun!
