smcgee @smcgee.bsky.social · 15/08/2026We have more monarchs in our yard than I’ve ever seen and for the second year in a row, no caterpillars. Our milkweed supply has quadrupled. I don’t understand. 51248144
WhinterWeen @whinterqueen.bsky.social · 15/08/2026ants, spiders, wasps, even birds eat the caterpillars in addition to things like disease & parasites getting them. only 5% make it to the last instar if i remember correctly 2210
Braindead Kennedy @bicycleidiot.bsky.social · 16/08/2026I’m choosing to believe you have a neighbor with even more milkweed and all the caterpillars are partying over there, oblivious to the very good party in your yard. 130
Bil Skirnir @astro-kraken.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Somethings up with my common milkweed and I had 0 blooms. Swamp milkweed is going still, but nothing from common or butterfly weed 150
sodio @sodio.bsky.social · 16/08/2026I know someone who raises them (to adulthood) & apparently they prefer one type of milkweed over another. They also raise them in a little screen cage so predators don't get to them. 100
