I couldn't resist lifting my camera to get a sneaky shot on the Blue Line, 10 years ago today. I like how the white background is also a state of mind.

Watching 1983 TV miniseries "V" where obvious fascists following a supreme leader promote conspiracy theories to turn the population against scientists. Who could believe such a preposterous plot?

Gotta love the Riverview Theater. Also, I saw three (3!) white squirrels in Longfellow. Are they growing a colony?

Monday Morning Matinee Movie: Coyote vs. Acme. Pretty good. Some laughs. Ends on sentimental note which should have been replaced with something more fun. Making new animation for closing credits is an odd choice considering treasure trove of art they hold.

Looking back at childhood TV show details is an interesting experience in learning about false memories. I remember seeing shows in certain living rooms, but I did not live in that house the year that show was on. We blend old memories.

Watched recent movie "It Ends". Do you like Millenial navel gazing? Too bad because I think this is all Gen-Z navel gazing. Booooring. I loved it. Watch if you want to contemplate eternity.

Is pumpkin spice a cultural antibody? If we didn't have this period where everything is pumpkin spice, everything would be Christmas by now.

I've listened to the audiobook of the 1897 novel Dracula at least 5 times. It's calming; I listen to it to fall asleep. I like the character Mina who is kind, loyal, and intelligent. Canonically, she is the writer & editor of the novel she is in. No modern adaptations do her character justice.

Song about being almost great combined + baseball nostalgia If you talked a little faster, maybe dressed in alabaster... If you flashed a little fancy, maybe did a little dancy... If you listen to this song, I'd be personally very grateful. www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2U-...

It bothers me that some people are consumed by talking about one man. I was on a weekend trip with someone and said "I'm not going to spend the whole weekend talking about that guy" to shut it down. You can shut it down. You can shut it down in your own mind. Even if it's a while. We have to live.

Welcome to the ancient world, 21st century time traveling child. We eat our cereal down here while watching black & white TV. We can get 3 channels most of the time. This time on Saturday all TV gets boring so we go outside. Let's go play!

Maybe something like higher property taxes that can be avoided if empty downtown retail space is converted to affordable housing. It's all just sitting there right now like a bankruptcy time bomb.

Tues/Wed/Fri I drove through rural areas northwest of the Cities. Gas prices jumped 30 cents between the first day and last. Have fun with the consequences of your actions, chumps.

I love finding these things. Old school physical data. You'd think they'd have a unique ID assigned to them, but no. It's on a map somewhere I guess. Often they have the name of the surveyor. On this one I think GJS is his initials.

Fungus on a tree in Glacial Lakes State Park. Why isn't there a TMBG song about fungus? "Am I alive or am I dead? Join the algae and be lichen instead?"

I like to find those spots where the rising sun is touching the morning dew just before it evaporates, and then I foolishly think I'll be able to capture all that glory on camera. This is the latest attempt.

Glacial Lakes State Park also turns out to be a great park. These are fun pics in the sun, but trails are in woods and wetlands as well as rolling open hills. Up & down climbs provided by glaciers shoving dirt around

Here's a zoom* on Mille Lacs Lake. Could be Lake Superior except you can just see the other side. * just digital zoom because I had not taped my camera back together yet, I suppose I could have switched lenses but I did not think of that

So Mille Lacs Kathio State Park has some nice trails with lots of route options. Parts of the park are dead tree groups. I guess the land floods, killing the trees that stay standing?

My excuse for chickening out partway up is the chickenwire, only thing between you & death, snagged my camera, ripped off back of it which fluttered down in the wind to stairs below & I said NOPE. (repaired camera with duct tape later)

In the interest of real experiences in this world of fakery, sometimes I play an old CD in an old boombox. No ads. No skips. When it's done it just stops instead of continuing forever. Flood by TMBG. Hounds of love by Kate Bush. Today? Smash Mouth. Can't win them all.
