That’s always where they’ve been going. And after no fault divorce, they’ll come for divorce, period, and for women having our own bank accounts and anything else they can take. They will not be satisfied with anything less than ending personhood for women.

I believe they will attempt to reverse women’s right to vote within the next 20 years. I do not see how the nation will stay intact when the conservative states have so thoroughly broken their democracies.

I don't remember who it was, but someone thought a better idea would be for people to require a lawyer for getting married, then wouldn't need one for getting divorced. Sort of a mandatory pre-nup. But, if they make divorce difficult legally speaking, people should just do legal contracts instead.

My prediction: They will try to criminalize/outlaw all medical gender transitions on a premise that gender transitions would "deprive future pre-born babies" from becoming conceived. Japan used to do this based on this argument until the late 1990s under the now-repealed "Eugenics Protection Act."

Any contemporary Republican panic about no fault divorce laws is as phony as the suspiciously vanished anti-CRT hysteria. There’s been a target on that bit of social progress since day one. Along with any laws that help the wrong people, in their eyes.

I dispute the use of the words "moral panic." That implies that they are doing this out of well-meaning emotional overload, and not out of malice. It is absolutely malicious and self-serving. Also it is not new. They were wanting to do this 25 years ago when I was a kid.

In many cases I've seen the people who were opposed to no-fault divorce also pushing their states to do "covenant marriages", aka establishing a rather specific Christian belief about divorce as law, and not allowing Jewish/Muslim beliefs and practices.

If the election in 24 gives us another trump term or control of the senate goes to GOP, we’re done. Women are simply done. All the anger at Biden about Israel/Hamas is understandable but it may be the end of our democracy when he loses because they stayed home on election day.
