I watched a video about cat and dog DNA changes to be domesticated. Wolve's DNA changes in a bunch of different ways. Cat's DNA had ONE change. The fear response to humans was turned down. That's it. Otherwise their DNA matches wild cats. Cats are basically wild animals that tolerate you.

The cat may tolerate me, but until the cat gets a job and starts helping out with the bills I reserve the right to pet/annoy them at times of my choosing.

This is one of the many pieces of evidence that dogs did NOT come from wolves. Wolf DNA is closer to coyote than to dog. Dogs are actually domesticated dingoes, which themselves are a wild animal native to SE Asia - where many still live wild. Dog-from-wolf is yet another evo blunder.

Cat DNA only had one change due to the fact that they are really aliens. As this cat boarded his hovercraft, he was quoted as saying "So long, and thanks for all the mice."

You can STILL SEE THE PROCESS HAPPENING, if you've ever tried to catch litters of feral cats, and get a neighborhood colony under control. Even within a litter, there are some of the little guys who are like "ALL OF Y'ALL ARE FRIEND SHAPED. I WILL STAND ON YOUR FOOT AND SCREECH UNTIL YOU PET ME."

They forgot to look at cat DNA changes with regard to treats: that DNA strand was amplified.

Guess that explains the time a family of bobcat came and chilled with me at my campsite up in the Shenandoah years back. Whole day was weird because the mountains the bears usually stayed on caught fire. I think the cats were what kept the migrating bears away from my site that night.

Spot on! We haven't domesticated Cats like we have Dogs. Their feral nature resonates with our feral nature, which makes some humans uncomfortable. Thus, the "I'm not a Cat person" people.

Donald Coffman @donaldjoh.bsky.social · 06/08/2026

It actually makes perfect sense. We bred and adapted dogs for specific purposes, changing their DNA in the process. For most of their time with humans cats had one purpose; to eliminate rodents that would eat our food stores. It was to our advantage not to fully domesticate them.
