I started American Horror Story very late, and I only watch it during Spooky Month. Just finished the Roanoke season. Wow what a great season. Like all other seasons she is in, Kathy Bates really stands out for me. She is magnificent. Timshel.

Spooky season! Started reading Poe in celebration of the month. Embarrassingly, I have not read much of his work other than "The Raven," and "The Fall of the House of Usher." Seems like a good time to remedy that. Timshel

Wow Iowa, what a way to upset the Wolverines! Michigan got beat in week one and now week 4, making their record 2-2. Timshel

I just saw a political ad of Trump walking down a hall with that stupid look on his face. The shot was in black and white. His stupid voice in voice over: he was going to get rid of war mongers, etc. Then the words: Paid for by the U.S. government. So gross. I hate it here. Timshel

Autumn vibes...are there such things? I don't know, but when I stepped outside and felt the air, the first thought that came to mine was: Fall. Timshel

I just saw an ad for Mike Rodgers saying he has a plan to take on "Big Pharma." At least that is what I think he said because when he speaks it sounds like a teacher talking to a student in "The Peanuts." Timshel

My beautiful black lab, Newton, on our walk pissed on a lawn sign for Mike Rodgers. I told him good boy and gave him a treat. Timshel

Big 10 Conference, let me tell you something: If all clocks are synced and your referee clock is off by a second, that clock is the one that is wrong, not the other way around. Timshel

I've been reading "A People's History of the United States." The game has been rigged since the beginning and history has taught those who write the laws how get better at rigging it. Timshel.

I just submitted my first short story to a competition. As soon as I hit the submit button, my anxiety skyrocketed. How do people do this regularly? Timshel.

Whenever I check the news and see what a shit show this country has become, I think of Dr. Farnsworth in Futurama when he says, “I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.” Timshel

Sunset on Mackinac Island. Lovely…surprisingly the tourists did not ruin it. Timshel
Sunset on a beach. Shadowed trees in the foreground. Clouded in the sky of various shades of orange, turning to grey. Land visible in the background as well as water to the left of the image.

It may be trite, but authors you have to write because you love it. You are not entitled to people buying your work because you put everything you have into it. Writing and working a 9 to 5 is not the same thing. Timshel

Brain is so tired reading and editing and writing. Time to play some Cyberpunk 2077 and just turn my brain off before starting a new day in the morning. Sleep well everyone! Timshel.

I have a black lab. Best boy in the whole world. On a walk today he was assaulted by three young girls that just gave him hugs and he just stood there like it was the most natural thing in the world. Love him so much!
Black Lab half laying on a brown couch. The couch is tattered because of him. He is looking at the camera with a blue ball near his front paws. If you could hear him think, he would most likely be saying “Well throw it.”

I love it when my wife edits my work. She always lets me know if my female characters work (which I am glad to say they do--mostly), and she always sees something that I always miss. After her edit on my latest story, she told me it was beautiful, then gave me ten corrections to make. Timshel

Found out this beautiful girl is part Australian Shepard, Australian Cattle Dog, and Boykin Terrier. The lab forgot to put down purebred good girl. She chose me, and I could not be happier. Timshel
Black dog with a greying muzzle and brown eyes looking up at the camera. The dog's mouth is open showing tongue and bottom teeth. Posture is relaxed and it appears as if the dog is smiling for the camera.

Finished my short story today. My wife said she did not understand how I could write stories like that not being able to visualize the story I am telling. That made me wonder: is having aphantasia a hinderance or a help when writing? I don't know how to answer that. Timshel

Dreams are strange things. Last night I had the weirdest dream. I knew it was a dream when I was dreaming it, but throughout the day today, I kept remembering things from my dream as if they happened. Slightly strange. Timshel

Progress on the short story. From 1000 words to 1538 words. I do a lot of self editing and sentence construction when I write. Probably delete three times as many words than what stays on the page. Keep writing. Timshel

I have spent the past week fighting with a short story. Today I said, "screw you," and started a new one. This new one has a musical theme, Brahms's Intermezzo, Op. 118, no 2. I don't know if it works, but I am 1000 words in. Timshel

Went to the theater and watched "The Odyssey." It was very, very good. My standout was John Leguizamo, who deserves an award for his role. I would love to see Nolan do "The Iliad," and recast Luptia Nyong'o as Helen just because he can. Timshel

Monte Cristo. Finished. My goodness. I need to sit with it a couple of days let it unravel in my head. Was it bad? Definitely not. Will I read it again? Definitely not. Was it worth my time to read it? Definitely. Was it over-hyped? Let me get back to you on that... Timshel

Monte Cristo. Chapter 112: The Departure. Please let this bet the beginning of the epilogue because I do not think I can take more revenge. It has been a ride, but It is a journey that I do not think that I will be willing to take again. Timshel

Monte Cristo. Dumas, you went from 0 - 100 when you hit the first domino. I almost want to tell you to slow down! Six hours today and I deleted my first three sentences and wrote a new one. Three steps back and one forward. That's progress, right? Timshel

Monte Cristo. Chapter 43: Ideology. The dialogue between Dantes and Villefort is a masterclass in subtlety, double meaning, threat, and foreshadowing. Any author thinking of writing a thriller, mystery, or dialogue where words are intended to evoke tension, this is the chapter to read. Timshel.
