It was a paradigm shift for me when o realized I just didn’t like riding with other people. At all. And It’s been pointed out how odd that is more than once. Riding is an enforced meditation. Not focusing on the task is potentially deadly; but also frees a lot of one’s mind to rest.

The problem is especially amplified in tech. I don’t think it’s as bad in other sectors. Yet. It’s really really making it hard for the next generation of engineers to make it into the business.

Now I expect applicants will use ai. To refine business language. To navigate cultural and native language gaps into business English. And I don’t mind that terribly.

It took a long time for me to learn that the work does show organically; once you let go of it. Sure, do all the things. Then let it all go. And sometimes, “guard number 3” just doesn’t really need all of that stuff. He’s just there to point out that the saxons are at the gate and exit left.

When I was in an acting conservatory we learned all these wonderful tools for building these wonderful characters. Biographies, internal mechanisms, *theme music*. And lord did our young selves want to show all that work. At once. In the brief time we weee in stage. And it was awful
