The atrocities of Nazi Germany happened gradually, through escalation: isolated selective brutality & murder, official impunity, dehumanizing propaganda, weakened legal protections, arrests, a state captured media. Then came the mass violence, but only once the public were conditioned to accept it.

AOC: I said this a couple of weeks ago: I would not be surprised if, when ICE funding started up again, we would start to see more civilian deaths at the hands of ICE. And that’s exactly what has happened. We didn’t see things like this happening with the same degree when we froze ICE funding.

The administration is now removing that interpretation, arguing the law should apply more narrowly. The change could make it easier for development and other projects to damage critical habitat, making it harder to protect endangered wildlife and plants that depend on those ecosystems to survive.

Assigning FEMA staff to immigration enforcement hurt disaster work, House report says
The findings by a group of House Democrats show how FEMA staffers were put to work in immigration enforcement and administrative roles, among others, straining the agency's disaster response ability.

Trump’s detention camps are extremely unpopular everywhere they’ve been proposed, but many people don’t realize DHS is planning a concentration camp in their community. That’s why we’ve put up billboards to let local residents know there’s a proposed or existing detention camp nearby.

The Voting Rights Act has been essential to protecting everyone’s freedom to vote. By destroying a key provision of the VRA that ensured Black voters were fairly represented, the Supreme Court today betrayed the legacy of the civil rights movement. We won’t stop fighting.
Black graphic with white text reading "[The Voting Rights Act] was born of the literal blood of Union soldiers and civil rights marchers. It ushered in awe-inspiring change, bringing this Nation closer to fulfilling the ideals of democracy and racial equality. And it has been repeatedly, and overwhelmingly, reauthorized by the people’s representatives in Congress. Only they have the right to say it is no longer needed—not the Members of this Court." The quote is attributed to Justice Elena Kagan dissenting in Supreme Court case Louisiana v. Callais
