I want to make "Unfriendly reminder" a thing. Can that be a thing? Let's make "Unfriendly reminder" a thing.

Same! I don't know if it's that the nature of "community" on the internet changed and now we have "content creators/influencers" and "followers" or if it's the algorithm pushing stuff, or just a change on how we approach social media (age, maybe?), or something else. But I miss that.

Young Americans rate their lives far less positively than they once did. Just 44 percent of adults ages 18 to 29 considered themselves to be “thriving” in 2026, down from 64 percent in 2010, according to new Gallup polling.

I miss the sense of community among the Mexican "twitter people" I knew back in the day. I felt like I grew up with them. They were my friends growing up, even if I didn't meet most of them in person. I still consider them friends. Twitter is, indirectly, the reason why I ended up in Tech Writing.

Will I change what I do now? I don't know. To be honest, I kind of miss having an online presence. What I did with @lamatatenabg.bsky.social was basically my way of keeping myself active in social media, but I don't know if I want to or care. If anything, I'll bring back my board game videos.

Being an "important" online presence regarding technical writing and web technologies would be good for my career. But the only reason I had a following when I used Xwitter is because I: - Wrote in Spanish - Wrote for tech blogs - Had a good comedy game My most liked tweets were always jokes.

Sometimes I'm surprised of how overwhelming coming back from vacation can be. In the sense of having +300 emails (not even a week) waiting for you in your inbox. Yes, I do Inbox Zero, I have plenty of filters. But my company is email-heavy and loves to over-communicate.

Change has been the only constant for a decade now. I’ve spent most of my 30s living with this hollow space in my chest, right in the crosshairs of fear, hope, and expectation. Maybe that's why it doesn't feel bad to say goodbye to my 30s like this.

I do think “every rich person went insane during covid because it was the first time they’ve been inconvenienced in decades” felt a little reductive at first but damn if isn’t more and more compelling as the years drag on

HOT TAKE: Listening to an audiobook is not reading. It does not count as reading the book. No. I don't read the music sheet of a song and say that I listened to the song. Even if I can imagine the notes.

But Dungeon Crawler Carl books are not bad. They have unexpected character development, good cliffhangers, and puns for people that want to feel smart. They are like a smash burger from a place where the "chef" uses black nitrile gloves: A bit overhyped, but good enough to keep you coming for more.

A lot of Fantasy or Sci-Fi series and books are way more interesting: Three Body Problem, The Book of Elsewhere, The Broken Earth. If you are looking for smart humor, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy or Discworld do it (way) better.

Is the series good? Not particularly. I've read shōnen manga or comic series that feel the same way. Vagabond, or even One Piece can do that. Y the Last Man and Saga give you that level of interest.

I'm starting book 5 of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. I've read 4 of them in two weeks. That says two things about the series: - It's an easy read. - It peaks your interest if you are the target population (chronically online, TTRPG/video game junkie millennial).

Now, after almost 4 years at my current company, it's been a year and a bit more in my new team and I can say I like them. They are helpful, I've learned a lot, and I feel supported. The company attracts the people, but managers and colleagues make them stay and thrive.

The hard part will be when AI generated stuff is truly unique and not easy to recognize. That is when I'll be even more interested in even more complex watermarking techniques embedded directly on open source models.

I don't consider myself a luddite. But it is important to recognize when it makes sense to use AI, and how to use it. If I see a poster, flyer, or slide generated using AI... I just skip. I'd rather have something "that does not looks professional" but has more personality, than generic stuff.

Now that "writing is easy and cheap", developers are starting to realize that writing good documentation was never about the writing itself (just like writing code was not about the specific lines of code you write).

I miss microblogging. Not only Xwitter. I think I miss the connection and the feeling of community it used to have. It was my own curated social network where I followed exactly the people I wanted to read. No algorithms, just a timeline, wits, and fun.

I'd rather just have my self-made, clunky designs and pictures. I'm not a graphic designer, but I built the brand identity for my board-gaming YT channel and it's socials. I actually think that is one of my creative outlets. And I rather have an MS paint, self-made, weird graphic than generic AI.

I don't hate AI tools. Still, I find that when someone uses AI-generated images in their enterprise or personal projects, I just feel those are lower quality. Is it just me? Am I in the wrong? Is it just that in the time of ready available AI pics and graphics, something human-made feels premium?

Yesterday I took one of my cats (Kimchi) to the vet. She was developing a small cyst on her left side and it was slowly growing. The vet was so nice. It turns out it was just seroma after a deep scratch from a fight with my other cat. He punctured it and removed. I like happy endings.

First, the big slop problem. Not only for humans, but for agents. In between false positives, the AI urovoros, and the sheer amount of AI content... dead web theory just sounds accurate. Human-made content is becoming harder to find.
