new Ecco games in the news again and it made me wonder if Ed Annunziata had updated his LinkedIn Page now that gamers are much more vocally against AI bullshit. Nope, his "near term goal" is still to "create a AI system to generated ergodic game content."

Priorities: * Build the Blue Dream game engine. (Part of below). * Complete the Zenadi Codex Z80 computer. * Build the Zenadi Programming Language. Start with Z80. * Build the Zenadi Virtual Machine. * Build overall Zenadi platform and infrastructure.

I'm working on sprites for my Z80 Codex - A custom computer I'm designing. Sprites on this system can display a total of 4 colors, from an unlimited number of palettes. This allows me to maximize storage for more sprites. #z80 #retrogame #IndieHacker

I'm in the early stages of my video digital processor, the two windows represent the small LCD screens I will eventually be using for my Z80 computer. I am testing a rotation function. I plan to incorporate "software" rendering through a RP2040.

Coding is still an artform. As I been toying with codex, using it to critique my code and generate boilerplate based on some of my existing works, it's great at mimicking my style or finding algorithms, but holy crap is it terrible sometimes.

For my Z80 computer, this will be the Video Display Processor. It supports multiple name tables for parallax scrolling, pattern tables, sprites, and palettes from 1-bit color up to 256 colors. Next up: NES sound emulation. #Z80 #RetroComputing #GameDev #Embedded #CProgramming

My new heat station arrived. Wow, it's very useful. I probably fried that Ecco the Dolphin ROM there.

Here is my programming setup. Today I'm working on a video digital processor for my custom Z80 computer. I'm using an RP2350. It will be similar to the master systems VDP but with more capabilities, such as scaling and rotation.

Companies value volume over quality, what hurts most is they have made it acceptable to produce shit work. We've replaced cut and paste devs with vibe coders, but both are awful.

I think it's time to share what it is I'm working on. In simple terms it's an 8-bit computer/game console that I call the Zenadi Codex. Right now I don't want to share too much, what I can share is this is my first attempt at building a piece of hardware from scratch. 1/3 🧵

Installed the 4MHz oscillator, added independent power and reset controls for both Z80s, and upgraded the variable clock with a new speed control. One step closer to a complete development system. #Z80 #RetroComputing #HomebrewComputer #8Bit #Electronics #DIYElectronics

Computers like ENIAC once consumed immense power and filled rooms. Today, devices vastly more powerful fit in our pockets. I see AI following a similar path and wonder what its critics will think when that technology is pocket-sized too.

There are many social networks out there where I can get lots of engagement. I am not against paying for X but my engagement on threads, and mastodon, heck even bluesky has been way better for free. I may reconsider but for now let's see where I go in those places.

Major milestone: my hand-wired Z80 computer just executed its first code from ROM. Verified with an led array after bringing up the ROM, RAM, and address decoder. The first heartbeat of the Zenadi Codex. #Z80 #HomebrewComputer #RetroComputing #Electronics #DIYComputer

Back at it today wiring my custom computer, but I have concerns. I'm confident I can wire it correctly even without a formal schematic. The real challenge is the breadboards—at this level of complexity they're just not a stable long-term solution. #HomebrewComputer #Z80 #TTLLogic

Working on the CPU1 memory subsystem today. Using a 3-to-8 line decoder for memory selection. The ROM is actually 64K, but only the lower 32K is visible for now. The upper 32K will be added later through bank switching. One step closer to first boot. #Zenadi #Z80 #HomebrewComputer

Hi, I am Zaiphirion. I am building a computer from scratch. This is the beginnings of a prototype called the Zenadi Development System. It uses dual Z-80 processors. It's still a work in progress.

Brasil, also known as Hy-Brasil is a phantom island said to lie in the Atlantic Ocean west of Ireland. Irish myths described it as cloaked in mist except for one day every seven years, when it becomes visible but still cannot be reached. - the unstealable jewel

The truth that he lied about was: Our only joy is this hell. A story has no meaning without loss, sacrifice and overcoming. A world of only joy is a dream and there's a reason we wake from dreams, they aren't real.

For a lithograph that's pretty good, but there are probably more of those than the crash cookie jar, also the lithograph is likely going to become worth more over time where the crash thing will become worthless when those with nostalgia for it start dying off. 1/2

This is a terrifying prospect. Especially since Windows as a gaming platform sucks. It's exciting that this is slowly tilting in Linuxes favor, unfortunately there are companies who don't want this to happen.

I never liked python but I'm starting to understand why do many people use it. For starters if you use Linux it's just there. If you need to mess with say algorithms, it's fast and effective to get running.
