I remember my father telling me how anti trust laws worked as a kid. Something like "Well son, we have laws where one electric company can't just buy all the OTHER electric companies. as for the other thing? when does a character you made stop being linked to you? that's mostly a perception thing, but you can sort of control that to an extent. Gooseworx has said that she relates the most to Jax, but also simps for them, and that anyone can choose to do anything with her creations

we honestly don't think there's a line that can be crossed for liking a character too much. media is only a problem if it's harmful to your life; if it contains triggers, or pushes harmful idealogy, or even if you just become obsessed to the point that you don't seek other life pursuits

when we started having fictives show up in our system, that cringe response is something we had to fight. it felt parasocial, like people wouldn't take us seriously, and would just treat us like we liked a character so much that we adopted their personality to replace our own. obsessive RP

for most of our life, we found being hyper fixated on, or building a personality around, liking a character to be harmless cringe. until we met plural fictives and fictionkin. even without experiencing it yet, we could see how liking a character and identifying as one manifested very differently

media is a big part of how we cope with especially dissociating times in our life. I think we saw both Guardians of the Galaxy and Zootopia over a dozen times each in theaters. we're still unpacking why we're that way, but specific characters are definitely a big reason we keep coming back
