another angle of the mobilisation
000
Abubakar @yodoumi.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
The popular mobilisation is still in place, these are just the pastoralists and the local Tubu population. It’s worth mentioning that how it will unfold it will definitely shape Chad for the coming months. If this mobilisation doesn’t peacefully resolved then things in Chad will look interesting

The Tubu are not an hierarchical society: the Derde or anyone else does not have the right or power to command Tubu individuals or Tubu society as whole. However, In the late 1960s, Derde Oueddei Kichidemi, became a central symbol of resistance that later led to fall of the Chadian government

A representative of the Derde of Tubu with presence of Chadian minister of Interior security and others implicitly threatens Kala’s regime, because few days Chadian army sided with Zaghawa armed group that attacked and kidnapped Tubu villagers in Tibesti.

The situation is unfolding faster than expected. This morning a Chadian military convoy attacked Tubu village next to Torko mining site located less than 100 km from Bardai, the administrative capital of Tibesti. The reason? The villagers attempted to shut down mining activities near their pastures

As I’m wrapping my trip in Tibesti, the pastoralists of these mountains seem like they’re seriously considering to start an insurgency against Kaka due to their exhaustion with environmental degradation from mining of gold and antimony by the Chadian elites and their Libyan friends in the region
