Today's #BirdOfTheDay is #Paridae. Of course a very common sight especially where I live are the Great Tits and Blue tits, a little less common in my area but abundant in more forested areas are these #MarshTits. This one was taking on my first visit to a birding hide at national park #DeHogeVeluwe

The #BirdOfTheDay today is #ODG any owl, duck or goose. I'm picking these barn owls I've watchted over a few evenings with a friend of mine. We sat long evenings in a hide and hoping they would come out of their barn. We did see a few juveniles pop up and the parents. Lovely birds! #Birds #barnowl

When I saw the theme for #BirdOfTheDay being #Silhouette, I immediate thought back to this photo from May of last year. For a while this was one of my favourite photos; a group of #barnswallows with one #flying by. I went back to find it and do a quick re-edit 🪶 #birds #birdphotography #bloeidaal

End of the day, but here is my #BirdOfTheDay: #Mamas&Papas submission. Back in July I was visiting a nearby breeding spot for #Kingfishers regularly. These two brought up a 3 nests. During this photo the second younglings hadn't even fledged yet, but they were already working on the next batch. 🪶

A bit late on the day, but it's not over yet! Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Angrybirds. A few weeks ago when I was walking over the #Veluwe in the #Netherlands I spotted these two grumpy looking juvenile #wrens. They were loudly chittering and making a ruckus #birds #birdphotography #winterkoning

Last Saturday morning I went to look at the nearby #kingfisher breeding spot after the 3rd had fledged. One of the juveniles was still sticking around until an older one, probably from the previous batch came to attack and attempt to chase him away. 🪶 #Birds #birdphotography #DutchNature #ijsvogels

Left one is the youngest of the two and recently fledged the nest whereas the one on the right is a child from a previous nest at this location.

Last Sunday morning I had my first encounter with a #wolf in the wild. Unfortunately I didn't get a good photo, but it was such an amazing experience how it ran through the heather fields. Hopefully I'll get a better chance to photograph one soon... #DutchNature #wildlife #canislupis #heather

I went out to spot the #SolarEclipse at #ParkSchothorst tonight! We had a 87,96% coverage during maximum. A few sun spots were also visible. A lot of people came out to the field. It was a nice cozy atmosphere and I could show some people the live image on my camera and answer some Q's. #Amersfoort

Around 10 minutes before the maximum eclipse. A large portion of the sun is covered, some sunspots can be seen on the surface.

2 minutes before maximum, the last visible sunspot is about to be covered by the lunar disc.

Maximum eclipse at Amersfoort, the Netherlands at 87,96%.

The field was very dry and the temperature quite high, but many people came out to this field next to the park Schothorst to catch a glimpse. I got to answer a few questions and show the live image on my camera to some interested people.
And look at that little lens-flare!

As the birds are keeping more quiet and hidden in August due to the heat and molting and some that went south already, we went to look for some larger animals! I didn't know how the light would be at the kingfisher spot in the evening, but it wasn't great. However thanks to #DXO Photolab 9 I still got a great photo, even at 12800 ISO, 1/1250. Going again tomorrow morning for some sunlight. #birds #birdphotography #kingfisher #Leusden #ijsvogel #canonR10

Zo zonde! Er wordt vaak te veel gesnoeid en geschoffeld door de gemeentewerkers... De bermen en parken hier in Amersfoort Liendert worden ook met enige regelmaat kaal gemaakt als het net mooi bloeit, "onkruid" noemt men het dan.
