Pretty bummed to see that the last showing of Forgotten Island at my theater is on Thursday. I had hoped that would’ve picked up steam financially like The Last Wish through word of mouth. Granted it doesn’t have the advantage of being a part of the Shrek franchise but still.

Rehabilitation, while not impossible, is not the same as accountability nor does it take priority over supporting victims and reducing harm at large. There is no way for an individual who’s committed an act of sexual violence to have a platform that isn’t harmful. It sets a bad precedent.

I'll never hold it against people for supporting or associating with public figures when they don't have the knowledge that they're abusers provided it doesn't continue after the fact. And you are not a morally superior person because you never liked them for completely unrelated reasons.

There was no way he was ever winning them over after his "God is nonbinary" speech to support trans kids back in 2021, using the Christian faith as a frame of reference. I know full solidarity with trans people from Democrats is the exception, but this is still very disappointing.

Like most US Dems, I'd respect him more if he lost the Senate race without validating the right's anti-trans rhetoric in any capacity, which I did hope for. Even if it's just a tactical decision to try getting their votes in our red state, it's still shitty, unprincipled, and a wasted effort.

Part of me is always gonna be a bit hesitant when someone says a film critic is too negative because it's a sentiment that can range from someone who's actually isn't critical of media in a way that's constructive to "This person doesn't like some animated movies I like/am nostalgic for.".
