"Schoolbox" is just a term I made up to describe poetry that reflects a basic poetic literacy, a toolbox of poetic means and mindsets towards poetry that's assimilated in school...

The iceberg of poetry at any(?) given moment seen in retrospective... I guess.
An iceberg of poetry, with the lines "Major Canon", "Popular But Not So Canonical", "Minor Canon", "Trend Colleagues", "Trailblazers" over the water, and "Once Popular", "Tailblazers", "Dictionary Presence", "Child Prodigies", "Known Outsiders", "Folk Poetry", "Schoolbox", "Unknown Outsiders", "Lost Poetry" and "Uncollected Folklore".

@fashfreenw.bsky.social Friendly advice: you should be using a different PDS that is, ideally, not within the jurisdiction of US or some close ally, or even a whole different ATproto stack, at which point... better just use the fediverse. Disroot are another alternative to A/I

"The corruption is so staggering it's almost hard to explain in words" Yet @gilduran.com, author of The Nerd Reich, does a fantastic job summing it up on Democracy Now! Well worth your time for a concise run-down of the paperweight ideals guiding today's techbros and the US president.

Apparently, once I move this account to a new DID identifier, I'll lose my followers, though not everything else, which is crazy. Hubzilla in the fediverse already had this figured out and Bluesky with all their VC money couldn't?

My self-hosted database of #poetry books - princeps-poesis.xyz - is in a phase where I'm still working on importing the Romanian poetry dataset, now up to 1969. English when? Can't give an ETA, maybe next year.
A page on Princeps Poesis (https://princeps-poesis.xyz) listing poetry books in Romanian from the year 1969 that were added to the database.

Considering the impending tech dystopia, it might soon be the case that we'll have to move the fediverse to the dark webs.

I heard ATproto can be more resource hungry than ActivityPub once you scale. There are now minimal ActivityPub implementations that work with even less than 1GB. Northsky claim to be onboarding 250 users per week, so they clearly have limited resources...

Not sure why it took them so long to process the queue, but it's a pity not having enough resources. I'm working on implementing my own ATproto PDS and everything, but I got to say, ActivityPub is a better idea when in lack of resources, it's easier to set up a light Mastodon-like server.

Sometime last year, I signed up for @transrights.northsky.social. Time passed with no sign of life, I signed up instead for Eurosky and got the account transfer within few months. Now I received email that it's my turn for Northsky, but my handle seems deactivated! No, I transferred.

Someone on W Social made an account called TikTok (lol). It got flagged as spam by... bsky.social mods. Seems like W forgot to self-host the moderation service part of the ATProto stack (Ozone), so they're still tied to the US.

To read Prynne should be transformational for poets. But it shouldn’t co-opt them into the School of Prynne. Rather Prynne embodies a poet’s vocational duties. Poets should read widely, care deeply about words & meaning & experiment playfully. But of one obligation he particularly reminds us 101/104

Both #Gopher and #Gemini offer virtually the same minimalistic distraction-free experience, and I preferred starting there because on the WWW there are so many static site generators to choose from as well as other things to take into account when self-hosting.

#Gemini the protocol dates back from 2019 (before Google's AI) and it's much like #Gopher, but with TLS encryption, and uses Markdown instead of mostly plain text.

#Gopher is an early web protocol that was at its peak of popularity in 1991-1993, right before WWW; its websites are called "gopherholes" and are mostly text-only documents. I am running one of only ~400 servers still active in 2026.

<- In fact, one was perceived as a "vanity" writer (AKA bad rep) if they were to pay for their editing and their "critical" reception (critics were also expected not to be open about it). Proust is one of the few to get away with it. ->

Back when I accused Dósa of being "anti-woke", I decried how he fell into that trap as a person who may be cis and male and able-bodied, yet still is ethnic minority in a country that's not always tolerant to his minority. Wouldn't have wished on him to be forced to relocate to Orbán's Hungary.

Aside the absurdity of such a thought fiction, I'd only enter a institution so I can make institutional critique from the inside and make things more inclusive and enable sharing more resources with marginalized voices which need it.

Hell will more likely freeze over before me, an autistic, queer, anarcho-leftist poet who likes Esperanto, would ever enter such a rigid and aggressively elitist institution like the Academy, where also these days one probably has to lick the secret serv ice cream...

Probably that's all there is to it, and insisting on there being hierarchies smells like yet another reactionary stance, but nevertheless it's an absurd shot, considering most MATCA readers may not have even heard of me, being a low-key figure. Comparing me to Tucă is still very strange...

If Dósa were in my place, I don't think his votes would have been very different, so it puzzles me why would he bother a sweat about it, other than staying resentful after I had accused him a few years ago of having gone "anti-woke".

Marius Tucă is a TV man and a best-selling author of sentimental poems which imitate Adrian Păunescu down to the color scheme of the book cover. Saying an author like Tucă would ever win a "legitimate" (oh well, that's another story...) poetry award is like just saying down is now up.

A poet of my generation whom I've not interacted with in a few years, out of the blue, drops an ironic reference to me in the middle of a literary enquête: in a world without hierarchies, "Tucă would win awards for poetry, and we would see Yigru Zeltil leading the Romanian Academy"... Context>>
