The iceberg of poetry at any(?) given moment seen in retrospective... I guess.
An iceberg of poetry, with the lines "Major Canon", "Popular But Not So Canonical", "Minor Canon", "Trend Colleagues", "Trailblazers" over the water, and "Once Popular", "Tailblazers", "Dictionary Presence", "Child Prodigies", "Known Outsiders", "Folk Poetry", "Schoolbox", "Unknown Outsiders", "Lost Poetry" and "Uncollected Folklore".

My self-hosted database of #poetry books - princeps-poesis.xyz - is in a phase where I'm still working on importing the Romanian poetry dataset, now up to 1969. English when? Can't give an ETA, maybe next year.
A page on Princeps Poesis (https://princeps-poesis.xyz) listing poetry books in Romanian from the year 1969 that were added to the database.

The same texts from my #Gemini page can also be read on my #Gopher page, as shown here in Emacs elpher (which allows one to browse both Gemini and Gopher): gopher://gopher.princeps-poesis.xyz/
Screenshot of an Emacs floating window, showing the webpage gopher://gopher.princepspoesis.xyz - both Emacs and the wallpaper behind are in the Solarizared Dark color scheme, with dark blue-green and pale hues of white.

I write regularly on the #smolweb, in particular #Gemini and #Gopher. Download a browser like Buran or Lagrange and read my texts at gemini://princepspoesis.gemcities.com/ (more about what this is further down the thread)

A poet of my generation whom I've not interacted with in a few years, out of the blue, drops an ironic reference to me in the middle of a literary enquête: in a world without hierarchies, "Tucă would win awards for poetry, and we would see Yigru Zeltil leading the Romanian Academy"... Context>>

Emmett Williams, SOLDIER, one of the classics of concrete #poetry:
Concrete poem with rows of the word "SOLDIER", with "DIE" written in red letters and the rest in blue letters.

Mahmoud Darwish's #poetry can still be found in Bucharest bookstores, despite our media being mindlessly pro-Zionist and routinely confusing antisemitism with anti-Zionism.

Dickinson's envelope poems made me realize probably the best for paper #poetry are mirror editions with hand-written or typed manuscripts alongside printed typescript, so that one can read the texts, but also engage more materially with that poetry.
Emily Dickinson, "The Gorgeous Nothings".

Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori was a First Nations painter who invented on her own a pictorial language which superficially resembles Western Abstract Expressionism, yet her kin easily connected her colors with elements of their ecosystem. www.wikiart.org/en/sally-gab...

Muriel Rukeyser, great poet. I've translated some of her poems into Romanian and had even obtained copyright permission, yet circumstances prevented them from being published.

An excerpt from "Le mécrit", a book by Denis Roche, one of the poets in the French Theory group Tel Quel, who believed disrupting the conventions of #poetry could spark a revolution in the West...

My poem "in (380 mg)" was written in calligraphic lines, each line a single stroke, except for the dots on the "i"'s, stripes on the "t"'s, and the diacritics. Going to use it as front page image on my upcoming website...

This #poetry book is also going to be banned in the US, because it's too woke and, of course, it doesn't have Joseph Massey in it... (On a serious note, I look up to Rothenberg, a paradigm-shifting personality - he made clear like no one else how related poetry traditions fundamentally are.)

Perelmuter seems to suggest there is a crowd of right-wing ”bros” who are taking a misogynistic delight in making an identity out of reading - or claiming to read - exclusively thick and difficult books from writers such as Cărtărescu. I have a problem with that. open.substack.com/pub/revistaa...

I posted the initial post from Friendica. Bluesky didn't parse the image - curiously, I gave Friendica an URL to the picture hosted elsewhere and, without letting me know, they end up hosting the file themselves.

"M. NourbeSe Philip's epic poem Zong! gives voice to slave ship victims". A fine example of how experimental writing (all too often presumed to be necessarily white) can meet decolonialism and social consciousness. #BookSky
