Hey @asterionhex.monster here’s some recent art-o’-th’day:
Watercolor of a brown tabby kitty on burgundy leather hassock Watercolor painting in rainbow blended background, with a J.R.R. Tolkien quote lettered over top: “There is a place called Heaven where the good here unfinished is completed, and where the stories unwritten and the hopes unfulfilled are continued. We may laugh together yet.”Two small watercolor paintings, rainbow backgrounds with lettering. One reads, “what if it all works out?” In white lettering; the other reads “darling - you’re gonna be okay.” In black lettering.Watercolor study of desk items - a stapler, a glue stick, and a ruler.

Update: see this? Two layers of this, preferably pull-up like a tackle box, but just magnetize-able layer also fine - just, no gaps. Wall to wall hexies with half-wells by the walls. Am I gonna have to teach myself 3D modeling? UGH

Thank you for this one!
A quick pencil sketch of a person’s lower legs, wearing a pair of Hunter rain boots. The left boot has a lace tied around the ankle draping off to one side that seems like a trip hazard, but looks cool in the pic.Original photo sketch was taken from, of a model wearing the cream-colored rain boots.

Please ignore the sloppiness of the scrawl; the nib on my dip pen is trash right now & needs an overhaul. Also it was like 2am, & there may or may not be a blot on the opposing page bc I closed the journal before the splat dried. Whoops. This does no justice to the fabulous sheening of the ink tho.
Photo of a handwritten swatch in my journal of Ferris wheel press’ “peppermint drop” fountain pen ink, describing how I found the bottle at random in a pile of forgotten things in my house.

INK TAX:
Swatch tag of Ferris Wheel Press’ “peppermint drop” fountain pen ink, which is a green ink with red sheen. Ink maker and name is written on the tag in messy not-calligraphy script; the swatch sits on a navy blue Archer and Olive journal embossed with a pirate ship sailing a sea of stars. The journal has stickers reading “Ancient Hexes for Current Times”, “What If It All Works Out?”, and “it’s going to be ok”.

For my fellow Starless Sea obsessives, I give you my still-evolving planner cover: (still need to find proper vintage skeleton key, better bee)
An amber golden metallic leather journal sitting on a green and yellow cutting mat. The journal, wrapped in braided navy elastic, bears three charms on the front: a bee, a key, and a sword. There are three beaded trinkets with keys on the end of each one suspended from the spine of the cover. A brass fountain pen is clipped to the top of the journal cover.Three charms adorning the front of an amber-golden metallic leather journal - one charm is a small bee; one is a miniature verdegris key, and the last is a tiny - but still quite sharp - basket-hilted sword.

3) This is Zelda. I have 4 cats, & I love them all, but this one is the one that crawled directly into the center of my soul & set up shop there, purring & making biscuits. She saves me daily.
Brown tabby cat, round and plump and fuzzy, upside down in deep nap on a down duvet of William Morris vining print in soothing blues and greens on cream. Kitty’s little toes are curled just so, & she looks super cozy and peaceful.

I’ll just drop this little thing here for no reason at all (disclaimer: I don’t know what KIND of jets those were and don’t care enough to look it up; the ballpark is sufficient unto the day.)

Screenshot of quote from linked NPR article, which reads:

“…group, found those in the U.S. without legal status have contributed billions of dollars to the U.S. Social Security system.

And according to the libertarian CATO institute, "the biggest myth in the debate over immigrant welfare use is that noncitizens - which includes illegal immigrants and those lawfully present on various temporary visas and green cards — disproportionately consume welfare. That is not the case. Noncitizen immigrants consumed 54 percent less welfare than native-born Americans."

There is a great series of slides on this at 1st link below; I include the most salient slide & cites here, but note that this source says the 2.5m study took place in Sweden: www.instagram.com/p/DO4qNwdjQy... Swedish study here: jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2817406
red slide with white text reading:

Part 1:
Tylenol/Acetaminophen Evidence
The acetaminophen claim centers on a Harvard/Mount Sanai review of 46 studies.
RESEARCH
Evaluation of the evidence on acetaminophen use and neurodevelopmental disorders using the Navigation Guide methodology
Diddier Prada' Beate Ritz', Ann Z. Bauer' and Andrea A. Baccarelli*
The review's results were so inconsistent that a meta analysis was unable to be performed.
Some association was noted in 27 studies; the rest found nothing.

The lead author explicitly states they:
“…cannot answer the question about causation.”
Open Access
and compared it to ice cream sales and crime, which both rise in the summer!
(Correlation ≠ causation.)white text on black background reads:

unbiasedscipod Before panic sets in about tomorrow's expected announcement linking Tylenol (acetaminophen/paracetamol) to autism - here's what the actual science says. The most rigorous studies show NO causal link when genetics are properly controlled. Autism is complex with 100+ genes involved, not a single-cause condition. Special shoutout to the brilliant Dr. Kevin Klatt for assessing the details on folinic acid (leucovorin) - the evidence for it as a 'treatment' is preliminary at best, with only small trials showing modest results in some children.

Don't let fear-mongering replace evidence-based medicine.

that DOGE Caucus email auto-reply makes clear it’s a do-nothing garbage thing. Absolutely needs the k-pop treatment.
text of auto-reply email when emailing the so-called “DOGE Caucus” in congress: “Thank you for contacting the House DOGE Caucus. The Bipartisan House DOGE Caucus works in partnership with Congress and President Trump’s United States DOGE Service to streamline government operations and save taxpayer money. The nation expects sweeping common-sense reform, and the House DOGE Caucus will work to ensure that every dollar spent in Washington delivers a direct benefit to the people it serves while prioritizing transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
We value your input and ideas on ways to help DOGE do its job. No amount of waste, fraud, abuse, duplication, or administrative bloat is too small or too large to fix. Please continue to submit your ideas at any time. We appreciate hearing from you.”

my SIL in Canada sent me these & now I wish even more than usual that we were at their place with them.
My sister in law sent this series of 4 photos of the auroras dancing over Lanark, Ontario in Canada. “The skies are just so PINK!” she said; and also “they’re really dancing tonight”. This particular image is heavy on the pinks and reds, with glimmering greens at the tree line visible in silhouette along the bottom. My sister in law sent this series of 4 photos of the auroras dancing over Lanark, Ontario in Canada. “The skies are just so PINK!” she said; and also “they’re really dancing tonight”. The most spectacular of the set, just as if someone painted light with a wide brush up and down the canvas of sky. One large pine silhouette spears up in the lower left, crisp against the dancing ribbons of green and pink.

I am working on a costuming project, a witchy sort of cottagecore situation, & am extremely on my bullshit about it: the piece will be reversible & the patterned fabric is directional, so if I had cut straps in one piece, either front or back of straps would “read” as upside down. So: I pieced them.
A shoulder strap in progress, made with a black-background mushrooms, ferns, and snails-printed cotton fabric piece; it is long and rectangular and the edges have been very sloppily zig-zag stitched, but where the shoulder seam of the pattern piece meets, the fabric is pieced together so that the directional fabric print will be upright from both front and back of the strap.second strap; same description: A shoulder strap in progress, made with a black-background mushrooms, ferns, and snails-printed cotton fabric piece; it is long and rectangular and the edges have been very sloppily zig-zag stitched, but where the shoulder seam of the pattern piece meets, the fabric is pieced together so that the directional fabric print will be upright from both front and back of the strap.

My oldest internet friend just sent me this photo, from the time in…1999? maybe? we went to meet each other IRL for the first time. in VEGAS. Because when you’re that young, you are really stupid, but also sometimes really lucky.
a photo of two women sitting on a bench before a painted backdrop meant to depict the African savannah. The women together are holding a lion cub across their laps. Hummingbird plumage, from www.nature.com/articles/s42...
8 photos of hummingbirds, all displaying spectacular rainbow plumage on their tiny bodies. First row Bird A in upper left corner has a violet head & spot on its chest, surrounded by emerald chest feathers, orange & yellow flame-colored throat patch above the violet spot. Bird b, continuing to the right, has a deep velvety black head & shoulder, w/a contrasting, shockingly bright breast of turquoise & violet feathers. A tiny patch of bright green adorns the flight feathers on its wing. Bird c is yellow-green almost like a parrot, w/ bright safety orange collar feathers & a spot of magenta-violet just at the base of its beak. The feathers on the underside of its tail are a softer orange than its collar. Bird d has an almost neutral breast, but its head is truly flamboyant, w/ a deep green throat, bright green top of head, a shock of orange mohawk on top, & cheek feathers that flare wide in orange with peacock-like eyes on the ends in iridescence. No room to describe 2nd row :(

I have to ask - is the entire party TRYING to lose every election this November? Like who decided the move was to lead every solicitation with, ‘look how hard we’re already losing, you should TOTALLY give us money! because…reasons!’
