This reminds me of something Toni Morrison wrote.

You know, they straightened out the Mississippi River in places, to make room for houses and livable acreage. Occasionally the river floods these places. "Floods" is the word they use, but in fact it is not flooding; it is remembering. Remembering where it used to be. All water has a perfect memory and is forever trying to get back to where it was.

We also have a similar concept of "lnegative space（留白）," creating a period of silence, or reminding the player of the space and situation the character is in, and not explicitly stating the impact of many things on the character. I also want players not to feel like they are being pushed around.

Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers. This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder. Auschwitz took time.
