I learnt that most headaches are tension headaches and that stretching can really help. I stretched a lot and then found out I was going through organ failure and had bone spurs on my skull. So it wasn't the fix I had hoped it would be for me. But you might have better luck!

So this is a weird comment but I wanted to say that you look and write a lot like my bestie who passed away last year so whenever I see you post it makes me happy. Sometimes I read your posts and pretend it's her for a moment. It's nice to think that there are other people like Megan out there.

It is interesting how cagey they are about discussing it now. I was pointed to an article from 2014, but this kind of clarity certainly isn't on the Waymo site. security.googleblog.com/2014/04/stre...

Positive affirmation as a motivator is such a powerful thing! I have started telling my stepson how great his hair looks when it is freshly washed and asking about his products and techniques for deep cleansing, and it has done what thirteen years of criticism never achieved.

I like how this whole thread is people going "yeah we know" and "this sucks" and then there are one or two old blokes just indirectly going "dumb", but I'm legit unsure if they don't believe me or they are just mocking me because they figured it out ages ago.

Apparently not specifically vehicles, but it got used for identifying things in Google Maps. blog.crawlex.net/blog/history...

The history of CAPTCHA, 1997–2026: from AltaVista's spam filter to Cloudflare Turnstile
Twenty-eight years of trying to tell humans from machines, traced through the original patents, papers, and announcements. Distorted text, reCAPTCHA, the checkbox, invisible scoring, signed agents.

I mean, I thought it was a good idea when I found out it had been used to digitise newspaper archives. It's definitely more squicky now.

I think that's the point, their machines are bad at identifying them so they get us to do it manually and it trains the programme. Or just fills in the blanks for Google Street View. ReCaptcha was bought by Google, though I don't know if they still own it.

I read somewhere just a day or two ago that the reason the people with all the money and resources are horrid is because when normal people get money and resources they immediately start thinking of ways to use it to help people. That one really stuck with me.

I might be out of date, apparently a lot of companies switched off ReCaptcha when Google bought it. But I don't know anything about the competition's ethics on privacy.

Xzigalia @xzigalia.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
I may be wrong! I know reCaptcha was used to have newspaper archives digitised and that Google bought it and was using it to have people manually identify things from stills of street maps, but I don't know the extent that it was used for or where the data was utilised.

I didn't even ponder it, I'm not technologically minded at all. My XBox 360 did twelve years of updates the other day, and I'm big mad because they added things in Minecraft and I liked it the way it was in 2014.
