I can understand that but, isn't that how anyone who works an a large enough codebase/complex system feels most of the time? Even before AI? A lot of my professional career was sifting through code to figure out how it works so I could come up with a solution.

And in both cases, I find it's faster than searching or writing the code myself. And I can work at a higher level of problem-solving that I enjoy. But if you say "hey I want X. GO." An LLM *can* implement it, but then you run into the less maintainable code problem.

Depends on how you use it. It can be really helpful for searching through large codebases. At work, I often use it for getting cross-service sequence diagrams for specific workflows. If you sit down, think, and write a detailed program design/architecture. An LLM can produce good code from that.
