when sick you're supposed to rest a lot. however, idk about y'all but when I have cold symptoms I sleep like shit. woke up at 1am, it's now 3 and I'm not falling back asleep anytime soon. god this is so boring.

[compsci question about hash functions] I want to hash sets of values, and I don't care about security, I just want to check whether two sets are equal without comparing the full sets. is it fine to compute the hash as the xor of the hash of all elements? Or is there some secret mathematical […]

@darius On Mastodon I see communities thriving outside of AI spaces. People learning, building, creating, thinking among their peers, for fun, for their convictions. I think a lot of reasons to do think still exist, if you seek them. But I agree, this technology has torn down much of the social […]

been baking bread on the regular for about a year and a half now. surprisingly easy to do, it just requires some planning. not as good as the hipster boulangeries in Brussels, but pretty decent and much cheaper

@jalict If you haven't read it, I recommend Steph Ango's (creator of Obsidian) blogpost on how he uses it: stephango.com/vault I based myself off his template to create my own vault, although it's quite disorganized in comparison :D I'm a messy person (ask my partner)

@jalict I understand, I found it overwhelming at first too. For me the thing that made it click is to not worry about file system hierarchy, and instead to organize with categories, tags, and links. I have a mostly flat structure. I use it for journaling, drafting blog posts, taking notes on […]

finished Louise Penny's "Still Life" (2005) this morning. if you like murder mysteries, well, you've probably read it already 😄 but if not, I highly recommend! it's extremely character-driven and beautifully written. surprised me many times, and avoids a bunch of clichés.

the most important part of #Unicode history is when a mouse fell out of a light fixture and got added to the count of members present at a Technical Committee meeting (9 Nov 2016) www.unicode.org/L2/L2016/16325.htm#…
