To be clear, I don't have a problem with this evolution. A Smash Bros-like with a horror theme (and some non-horror guests) is fine! It's moreso the WAY it's happening. Seems like less a conscious creative decision and more an opportunistic/capitalistic one. Which is fine! Just not as interesting.
