From J6 insurrection to Schmitt's humiliation, there is a straight line. The latter covered up the former to confuse understanding of Trump's treason. A THREAD.

Last week I presented to ODCA colleagues on using an LLM to research legislative sources faster. After answering a prompt, the LLM offered to write “ODCA-style” audit criteria. I said yes. Then LLM offered to write up a whole audit finding. I said yes. I had provided no facts, mind you.

I see two possible explanations for this text message: 1. Anti-democratic forces that control the government are using phishing tactics to deceive American voters 2. Democratic Party leadership remains unfathomably bad at political communication

Washington, DC area is considered one of the best places to work in the country. Indeed ranked DC the second-best city in 2026, based on career opportunities, pay, job quality, & more. 👏💼 We're proud to keep the region connected to the jobs & opportunities that make it such a great place to work.

Technically the jury verdict is not the conviction. Instead, the conviction is the court’s judgment stating the plea, verdict, adjudication, and sentence. The sentence must be imposed “without unnecessary delay,” but I’d expect some lag in any contested case. uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml;j...

Please let's not forget that DC United is in the middle of a 50% sales tax abatement incentive and only have to pay 25% of its real estate tax obligation. The first five years of land occupancy was 100% abatement of both, and the abatements phase out. Which is obvi why they want more DC money now.

Would the Framers, or any sane person, intend for many laws and even some parts of the Constitution (e.g., the Emoluments Clause) to be completely unenforceable due to a universal lack of standing? Article III cannot possibly be less important than a three-part test invented by Scalia in 1992

I’m in a (another?) fucking-burn-it-down-then mood over the Supreme Court’s decision, which boils down to this: The blatantly illegal East Wing ballroom project is NOT a “case… arising under this Constitution [or] the Laws of the United States” within the meaning of Article III.

Can confirm. Also remember the two Guard that were shot, and the one that was killed were from West Virginia too. Nothing new under the sun to tell the mountain folk there is important work to do, exploit them, put them in danger and send them home.
"I know there were a lot of people that showed up from West Virginia specifically that were just like, I want to help, and then later they found out that they were taking out trash and setting up (logistical equipment). I think they later fell off mission as soon as they could get off," he said.

It’s not complicated. The deterrent effect of a military presence is vanishingly small when the military has no law-enforcement mission, tools, or training. The presence merely reassures the few people who feel they or their allies control the military and will use it to intimidate locals.

Local news is a public good: it benefits all of us more than consumers are willing to pay for it. (How many substacks/news sites can you justify subscribing to? And people on bluesky are in the 1% of the public most engaged w/ news) We can't rebuild local news w/out public intervention.

President Donald Trump is increasingly unpopular, he has the country mired in a war he started for no reason, his economy isn't satisfying anyone except his oligarch buddies. Fox News' coverage now through the election is going to be ~100% fearmongering about commies, Muslims, and trans people.
