Its sucks to learn that someone who appeared to be fighting the good fight is capable of violating another person. I bet he did not think he was doing anything wrong, at all. Its mind blowing. As if submission is acceptance and therefore consent.

OpenAI head of robotics just resigned over company deal with the Pentagon saying… “Surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got”
Caitlin KALINOWSKI over X

I resigned from OpenAl. I care deeply about the Robotics team and the work we built together.
This wasn't an easy call. Al has an important role in national security. But surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got. This was about principle, not people. I have deep respect for Sam and the team, and I'm proud of what we built together.

What if any time a law that restricts the rights of a group of people, they had to prove that the group being restricted is not a human being - that they do not bleed when cut & that they do not have hopes & fears too.

People talk about the AI bubble or how AI will disrupt SAAS businesses but what happens to the “billable hours” bubble? Law firms, accountants and ad agencies charge by the hour for tasks AI now does for them in minutes. How long can they maintain pricing power using the pre-AI billing model?

Reminds me of one of my favorite memes:
Five panel meme arranged vertically. The first shows a grey haired mustachioed man saying "socialism never works." The next panel has a younger man wearing a hat saying, "Norway is socialist and they're doing great." The third panel has the mustachioed man apparently yelling, "They're not socialist they're capitalist countries with strong welfare policies." The third panel shows the hatted man throwing a chair and apparently yelling, "then let's adopt those policies!" The final panel has the mustachioed man yelling back, "No, that's socialism."
