This is your reminder that we need to fix the Electoral College. Every Congressional district should be around 588,753 constituents. Maryland has more than 10 times that, yet only 8 Congressional districts. Explain to me again how the Electoral College protects small states like mine.

In 1969, pollsters were sure Tom Bradley would win over Sam Yorty in the LA mayoral race. Sam Yorty won yet another term. Turns out people didn't want to admit to pollsters that they couldn't vote for a black guy. I would like a Blue Tsunami or even a Blue Wave, but I think the voters are too dumb.

Sigh. I picked the day I lost my virginity for my wedding day. (6 years apart, I'm not foolish enough to wait for marriage to check for compatibility.) We married on a ferry. Had I done what my mother wanted, and married in a Catholic church, it would have been draped in black because a Pope died.

Usually not a problem for me unless I'm in an MRI tube or being irradiated for cancer. I have very good visualization skills so I close my eyes and recreate a soothing scenario. (During radiation, e.g., I was sunbathing topless on the beach at Cannes.)

Delphi used to (starting in the late 80s) have a Wed. evening online gathering with a bunch of writers like Pat Cadigan, Mike Resnick, Gardner Dozois & others. I remember it fondly. It's how I became friends with Pat, even if she did (wrongly) correct me on the pronunciation of "Marcinko."

The only publisher I regularly see a royalty check from got listed at 100% and he has to go in and change them all. As for the rest, every book Jack wrote is at least 22 years old. At some point, they need to give up trying to make back the advance and revert the goddam rights.

I used to be for the death penalty, mostly in cases where jail guards were murdered. (My daughter was friends with the son of a very nice guard.) Then I read LAST MAN STANDING by Jack Olsen and did a complete 180.
