I met my neighbor's new dog last night, half Great Dane, half Irish Wolfhound. They assured me that this was an intentional breeding choice and he's a "danehound." I tried to take a picture but in the dark it just looked like a ghost beast from the shadow realm. They've named it Smoochie.
