My top tip of the day is don't publish a paper about drool unless you want to get cited as that drool guy for 120 years

My favourite sentence of the day: "I'll let you boo me for 1000 stars if it means we beat the CPUs"

Miss when you could just bang on electronics to make 'em work

Lucky enough to be starting a huge new veggie patch! Step one: kill alllll the weeds through the powers combined of plastic and the sun

Do you cook your own dinners now? No one's there to close the pantry doors behind me.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it - but if it's broke, and you've tried to fix it, and it's still broke, get the fuck outta there

AI filmmaking is peeing. It’s pooping. It’s throwing up. It’s a new kind of liquid coming out. It’s hated by the establishment. It’s what goes in the toilet. It’s wet. It’s what’s in the bathroom.

AI filmmaking and storytelling is punk rock. It’s hip hop. It’s counterculture. It’s a new type of creativity. It’s a new medium. It’s hated by the mainstream film and art establishment. It resists ideology. It ignores gate keeping. It’s uncomfortable. It’s scary. It’s viral. It’s accessible. It’s refreshing. It’s welcoming. It’s here.

I really think you're going to be fine, jsyk! Shock and denial are their first steps. Not gonna lie it's rough. They're going to need time. Lean on your supportive friends as much as you can. At some point, your parents will be ready. I'm sorry it sucks. I really do think you'll be ok though 💛

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 23/06/2025

It really can! It took my mum ferrying another mum through the 'my kid just came out' process to really process things. Are your parents otherwise pretty compassionate people, or did they seem accepting of queer people until you came out?

110

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 23/06/2025

Ooooof feel this. I went to an all girls school, first came out as bi at 14, then as a trans guy at 17. Parents definitely were like 'you just aren't around boys'

120

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 23/06/2025

It can get better. In my experience, my parents took time to grieve, I took space from them, and after about 2 years I couldn't ask for more supportive parents. They were so scared for me. But when they see the real you, and see you thriving, they realise you're going to be fine and settle down

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 13/05/2025

Why do some newspapers have a vendetta against 'the' as a word. Strains THE bounds of propriety. Makes it so much clearer that 'bounds' is a noun, BC sometimes it's a freakin verb

Aussie election is this week too. It feels like every second question our two major party leaders are asked are about Trump

If you're a good author, (especially of dystopian fiction, great fantasy authors) your writing is always rooted in present and historical politics and social dynamics. A thought experiment as to what's possible if you broaden the current social dynamics, or imagine them functioning in another world

Ok I can't watch the clip rn, but legit why is he tanned darker than the two POC he's standing next to?

Dystopia isn't ever about the future, it's about the consequences of continuing on the current path.

Fair call tbh. Only real reason to keep twitter is to keep an ear to the ground, if you're gonna block people what's the point Hasan does try to deradicalize folks tho, which I'm guessing is why he keeps it

000

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 26/03/2025

Blocking Elon Musk is a fair move by anyone, right, left, centre - the man posts like 500 times a day, it's the only way to make the barrage tweets stop

Insane take. Wish America had preferential voting, because at least then Dems would have hard numbers proving their voter base swings left

000

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 19/03/2025

Yeah yeah yeah, deport Mahmoud Khalil, but also extradite anyone who did a real crime so they can be prosecuted with the full weight of the US justice department. Anyone who thinks they would deport actual criminals (and that deporting criminals makes you safer) is insane. #MahmoudKhalil

110

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 19/03/2025

The US can't have a policy of deporting 'criminals,' 'terrorists,' etc with no trial when you're actively seeking to extradite and prosecute ppl. Trump would have wanted to send everyone in gitmo back home :)

I feel like it's starting to sink in for some that the Nazi vibes emanating from the far right are not totally fine and normal. It's encouraging that there seems to be a 'too far' for some of them still... I'll take that over Nazi simps any day

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 13/03/2025

I literally saw MAGA lesbian Arielle Scarcella tweet about "the woke right" hating lesbians today. Apparently some right wingers are separating themselves out from what they're calling the woke right and woke nationalism

I feel like Tesla is the true opposite of a meme stock By which I mean it's a company that actually produces something tangible, and the stock value is completely tanking because of dumb shit

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 01/03/2025

Community engagement and class solidarity can be the catalyst for people starting to question racist, xenophobic, transphobic etc beliefs. People who share the same struggles are more likely to see eye to eye

160

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 01/03/2025

Trust me, I'm trans, and dealing with people who have drunk the kool-aid is not fun at all. But I'd rather engage with them face-to-face and try to find common ground as part of the same community than keep hurling abuse at each other online

010

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 01/03/2025

I'm saying some people lapping up what Trump said re-election are going to inevitably be hurt by his actions, which will create personal turning points. I feel like it's best to meet those people with empathy and try to introduce them to better ways of thinking

010

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 01/03/2025

I feel like with such big rifts between folks in America, the only things that can repair that is finding common ground on a community level. Turning the pain inflicted on folks by this administration into community solidarity is one positive that can potentially come out of this shitshow

Teddy Roberts @wormat.bsky.social · 01/03/2025

Hold irl public impact hearings as much as possible & encourage colleagues to do the same, invite press - stream them. Where repubs cancel town halls, make public forums where people can share the real impact of the administration's actions and put it on record - that's what's going to unite people

Like c'mon how is that not copy/pasted. I thought they were about efficiency and yet they're over here typing out 'ecexutive order' then on top of that have to go back and fix it when the radical leftists have too much fun over it. Fire whoever did that, not Dave from the CFPB

Yeah, they used to have someone who stopped you making spelling mistakes, but he got fired for having a trans second cousin
